NEWS UPDATE – KULA PARKS, JUICY LU TZU, ANGEL BURKE, ARABELLA HARRIS STILL NEED YOU

Posted in Newsletters at 10:53 am by Lone Star Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso Rescue

Hello Friends and welcome to the Lone Star Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso NEWS.

If you’ve never received this new blast before, big welcome.  If you’d like to read this online, go HERE.

YOU ALL ARE JUST SO SPECIAL.  I HOPE YOU KNOW HOW MUCH WE AT LONE STAR APPRECIATE YOU!!

Some people ask how we can do this week after week, month after month.  We are just a bunch of dog-loving volunteers that want so much to do all we can for these dogs.  Some of these pitiful dogs we take in run up vet bills of $800-$1000 easily and a few go way over.  It’s so rewarding to be able to take one in - especially like Kula, Juicy Lu and Angel – and be able to help them.

How do we do it?  You enable us to do it!  Many of you have told us over and over, just let you know when there is a need, and you’ll respond.  I must say, you always come running to help these little dogs.  How can we ever say thank you!!

As you know, we always try to have the funding we need if not before, then relatively soon after we have a major procedure done.  We prefer to have it before, but sometimes things just come up and we have to deal with it before we can get a message out to you.  It is very important to us AND THE DOGS that we are able to pay off our vet bills as soon as they are incurred.  This is what keeps us going and keeps the vets happy.  Our vets are the greatest on the earth – we use three vets in the Houston area and three in the DFW area – in addition to all the stuff we have done at both Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists and Dallas Veterinary Specialists.

YOU are what keeps this going!!!  YOU are the ones that allow us to take in these dogs and be comfortable that we can pay the bills.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

DID I SAY THANK YOU?!?!

So, on to the stories.  We still have a few that need a tiny bit of help.  Most of their bills have been funded, but just a few remain.

Luckey1.jpg KULA PARKS

Kula is the hit by car cruelty confiscation lhasa boy. His story is just unbelievable and we hope that the cruelty investigator is able to make a case to prosecute his prior owners. To read the entire story of Kula Parks, go HERE. To date, Kula has $490 in his vetting fund. His total bill to date is $858. This includes his initial workup and the consultation with Dr. Bertrand.  Thanks to Cat Martindale, Rodney McDonald, Jean Day, Lorna Van De Wiele, Rosemary Cody, Annie Phillips, Mona Corrigan for their generous donations to date! Also thanks to Julia Skidmore who made a generous donation with this tribute – “in memory of my Mom who passed away 9 years ago – she made me the animal lover I am today.”

Kula is about to incur expenses related to physical therapy now so he needs to write a check for this bill.  If you would like to donate for Kula, you can donate HERE via paypal or go HERE to send a check(specify Kula Parks Broken Leg)!!!

JUICY LU TZU

Juciy Lu is a little 8 year old owner surrender that we thought would be no trouble. Not so, she has numerous issues and is still racking up vet bills. To date, Juicy Lu Tzu – needs $679 . Total received to date $295. Thanks to Jean Day, Martin Howard, Erin Bernsin, Cat Martindale, Nancy Croft in honor of KY Lucky, Rosemary Cody. CHARO WORTH

This beautiful little girl was declining from a suspicious upper respiratory. If a dog doesn’t respond on antibiotics after a week, we always suspect distemper. We rushed her to our distemper vet, Dr. Ward, for evaluation and treatment. His treatment has saved the lives of several of our little fluffs over the year. After a week on his treatment, Charo is responding. She is not out of the woods, but…

Charo’s treatment is $450. To date, she has ALL SHE NEEDS in donations. See the update about Charo above.  She now has pneumonia.  Thanks to great supporters, Tricia Havis, Lori Ugolik, Martin Howard, who donated in memory of the very handsome Fritz Worth Howard and Mike and Joyce Tate, who donated in memory of Abbi Tate Worth, who, in six short weeks, had come to be a wonderful little member of their household.

ANGEL BURKE

Yes, this little old sweetie had quite a medical bill. It topped out at $586. Not unusual for a little old lady. Her foster mom reports that she’s getting used to being spoiled and she’s well worth the time and effort. To date, there have been donations totalling $140. Thanks so much to Cat Martindale, Patty Dadamo, Diana Goldman and Martin Howard.

This little sweetie really needs your help.   I know she’s not a tzu or lhasa, but we just KNEW we couldn’t leave her to die at the shelter.  She had a really, really hard life.  Her teeth were totally rotted and she had to have antibiotics before we could even do the dental.  Please help us pay Angel’s bill.  To donate for Angel Burke, you can donate HERE via paypal or go HERE to send a check(specify Angel Burke)!!!

ARABELLA HARRIS

Wow, what a cutie. Arabella had a mass on her chest and we opted to have it surgically removed and analyzed. Just before the surgery, the vet found a strange heart sound and asked if they could do an ultrasound. Her total bill came to $836 and she’s now asking for your help!  To date, Arabella has received $0 toward her vet bill.  PLEASE HELP ARABELLA -  we want to be able to get her into an adoptive home.  To help Arabella, please donate HERE with paypal and HERE if you want to send her a check (specify Arabella Harris).

HEAVEN ENNIS Yes, Heaven is back for more medical tests. She continues to have no clinical signs of illness even though her WBC is astronomical. We must check her every few months. The tests will be around $250 – including a complete blood workup and her meds. If you would like to help Heaven, please donate HERE with paypal and HERE if you want to send her a check (specify Heaven Ennis). You can see Heaven’s entire story HERE.

DawsonDavis0068.jpg DAWSON DAVIS

This adorable boy had to have surgery for bladder stones. Thanks to the following people, his entire vet bill is PAID!! Mike Birke, Cynthia DAntoni, Barbara Grabell, Holli Howard, Cat Martindale, Laura Ritchie, Martin Howard, Cynthia Adams, Joan Samara. GO DAWSON!!
