Sunday morning and all is well
Well, except that we still have no power at Deogi. The estimate now is Wednesday. Yesterday it was 87 degrees and today it is supposed to be 85.
We have now installed two giant industrial fans and the dogs are loving them! I guess they think they are riding in a car with their heads out the window. It is just too funny to watch them all standing in front of the fan with their “hair” blowing in the wind.
Other than the heat, we are doing well. I guess we have now learned the downside to having a facility in a heavily wooded area. Ike brought an unbelievable number of trees down along with many of the power poles.
I got very excited yesterday to see several utility trucks down the street and men walking up and down looking at the poles. Unfortunately, it was AT&T. We already have phone service.
We still need newspapers and paper towels if anyone is in the area.
Also, we are getting calls left and right about people finding lost dogs. Right now we have 13 on our intake “needing to come in asap” list.
Additionally, the HSPCA has asked us to take on their adoptable tzu and lhasas for 10 days so they can make room for the hundreds of dogs they are rescuing from Galveston Island.
WE ARE DESPERATE FOR FOSTER HOMES!
If you are an approved adopter, you can foster one of these dogs immediately. If you’ve always wanted to foster but have not yet filled out the paperwork, NOW is the time. Please. We just cannot save these dogs without your help.
Monkey and Pate’s surgery fundraising is on hold for a few days until we get past this crisis. Well, if you can donate, please do, but right now, my time is being spent working with local animal organizations to make sure no tzu or lhasas fall through the cracks.
Thanks!
Teresa
