Benamin Ranger – what your monthly donations did for this guy

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:13 am by Lone Star Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso Rescue

Yes, we do seem to come to our supporters a lot with very, very expensive surgeries, etc.  But, there are a lot of you that donate monthly anyway to our LSSTLAR Veterinary Bills fund and I wanted to show you what your behind-the-scenes donations did for little Benajamin Ranger last month.

Little Benjamin came to us when a lady found him in the yard of an abandoned home in northwest Houston.  He was terribly emaciated and in horrible shape.  She took him to our vet and by the time she got there, he was totally non-responsive.

No, he is not sedated in this picture – this is how he came in.  Click to enlarge and notice how very tiny his waist and hips are.

Our vet called and said “I’m not sure we can save this one.”

He was hospitalized on IVs for days.  It was touch and go for three-four days.

Then, amazingly, he responded and one day, he sat up.  One eye had been punctured and just last week, the vet thought him strong enough to go through surgery.

Today, almost a month later, he is still a very thin little boy, but a happy, playful adorable little dog.

His total hospital bill was just over $730.  We could not have saved him had it not been for the wonderful people that routinely make donations to our LSSTLAR general vetting fund.

Thanks to all of you from this adorable ALIVE little guy.

This just breaks my heart, but then again makes my heart jump for joy when I see how he has turned out. I have a 2 1/2 yr old Shih Tzu male who my daughter and I love dearly. He brightens up our days and nights. I would love to be a foster mommy to any Shih Tzu in need. They truly love their owners and make it known…..
