HOBO – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

I’M BAAAAAAACK AND I’M BETTER THAN EVER!!!!!
Remember me? My name is Hobo and I was a featured Forever Foster back in July of 2008. I want to tell you what happened to me over the past few months. I gave my foster mom a really big scare. I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and need medication to keep me healthy and happy. The doctors thought that my medication should be changed as I was having problems with side effects. My foster mom thought that I might not make it, that’s how sick I was. It took quite a while for the doctors to figure out exactly what to do. I got sores all over my body and I even lost all my hair.
I had to be weaned off the medicine, but then everyone was worried about how that would affect my IBS. Luckily, my foster mom found out that I shouldn’t eat anything with gluten in it. Now I’m off the original medication and on one Prilosec a day plus my thyroid medication. Being gluten-free has REALLY controlled my IBS. Now I AM DOING GREAT!!! I’m hoping to make it off the Forever Foster list soon as I am still up for adoption and would love to find my forever home.
Here’s my original story. Contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net if you think I might fit into your family.
Hobo
I had quite a difficult past, but now I live the good life. I was living on the streets, fending for myself, sleeping wherever I could, and eating whatever I could find. Then my luck changed and I am now living the high life with my fantastic foster family. They tell me that I am a Forever Foster dog as I need some special care. That doesn’t mean that I am not able to be up for adoption. It just means that someone very special needs to find me.
I am a 4 year old Lhasa Apso boy with white, brown, and black hair. I have one blue eye and one brown eye and that makes me unique! I am a pretty laid back guy, unless there is food involved. I get quite grumpy if my foster siblings get too close to me when I am eating my meals or my treats. My foster mom says that I am also very impatient while I am waiting for my food. I tend to bark, bark, bark, so that my mom will hurry up and get my food to me! Obviously food is a very important part of my life!
When I came to live with my foster family, I weighed about 20 pounds. Then, I lost 6 pounds rather quickly and my foster family was quite worried about me. I went to see the veterinarian and it turns out that I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). There is a flap in my stomach that was inflamed and not closing properly. This problem meant that my food was not being permitted to pass through my system. I am on several different medications for my IBS and I need to have some of them given to me before I eat. I now eat three smaller meals per day and I am up to 17 pounds. I look great and I feel great!
Since my past involved living on the streets, I do not like to be confined in a crate. I do tolerate a gate or a larger pen as long as I can see out of it and I know what is going on.
I have a very sweet side and I love to be loved. I will sit in my foster mom’s lap as long as she will let me! I am not a demanding dog (except at feeding time, of course). I am mostly just a quiet, laid back, loving little dog who only wants to be your constant companion. I do like to play with plastic squeaky balls and will squeak it until my jaw is tired! If you think that I might fit into your family, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net. Or, if you could help with the cost of my medicine, that would be a big help. Just go to the Forever Foster page and click on the link to donate. I would be ever appreciative of that!
I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots and am heartworm negative.
