NAEMA LAND

My name is Naema but my foster family affectionately calls me NeNe.  I am a very special 12 year old Shih Tzu lady.  I have beautiful soft gray and white hair.   Since I have no eyes, my foster mom has let my bangs grow long.  When you look at my face all you see is my little black nose and my little pink tongue peeking out.   My foster family says that I look ADORABLE!!!

My foster mom and dad think I am a funny girl.  My blindness does not stop me from charging ahead into life. I will prance across the room with lots of confidence.  If I happen to bump into someone or something, I merely change course and forge ahead.  I love it when my foster dad takes me outside.  He helps me get to where I am going by cheering me on every step of the way.  He just keeps on talking and encouraging me and he even helps me go up and down the steps with his words.  When I make it back inside the house, he gives me a “cookie” for my accomplishment!   I also like to roll on the floor and massage my back.  It feels so good that I tend to “ooh and aah”.  My foster family laughs at me when I do this!

I’m a very loving girl and enjoy time with my foster family.  When I’m ready to join my foster mom or dad on the sofa or chair, I will stand right there and gently scratch until someone lifts me up.  I then can cuddle with them and get lots of pets, belly rubs, and loving.  Sometimes I scratch at the sofa or chair when no one is sitting there.  I just want to be in a comfy spot!  I am quite insistent about this and will make it known that I need attention and want up on the sofa.  My foster mom or dad will always help me up.

I will sleep ANYWHERE!! At night, I like to sleep on the sofa. My foster mom puts the throw pillows on the floor in front of the sofa, so if I jump or fall off I will land on a padded surface.  Usually, if I wake up in the middle of the night, I bark once.  My foster mom will hear me and come get me and bring me to the BIG bed.  I love to sleep on the bed with my foster parents, and I need to be touching my foster mom throughout the night.  That makes me feel safe and sound and definitely loved.  There are also several dog beds in the house that I like.  I have no trouble finding them all by myself and will grab a quick afternoon nap or even a good night’s sleep.

I am learning how to go on walks.  I have a special harness that my foster family bought for me.  Because of the harness, I am getting much braver on my walks and will even take the lead at times.  I enjoy the breeze, the fresh air, and the wonderful smells the world has to offer.

I get along well with the other dogs in the house and I even get along well with cats.  However, if my forever home had just ME in it, that would be OK too.  That would mean that I would get all the loving!  My foster mom and dad consider me to be a Forever Foster which means that they will take care of me for the rest of my life.  But if the perfect person or family came along, they would understand that I would have a chance at my own forever family.  That would be very special.

If you think that you would like to hear more about me, look at my Petfinder page or contact my foster mom at anayah@cebridge.net.   She will tell you what a special girl I am.

I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots and am heartworm negative.
