AMY – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:48 am by Volunteers

 Amy+2.jpg

Hello out there!!!  My name is Amy and I just can’t figure out why I am still here!  I have been in foster care waaaaay to long and I am definitely ready for my forever home.  I am a 3 year old, 15 pound brindle and white Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso mix.  And, by the way, I am VERY cute!!!

Since I have been with my current foster mom and dad, I have become a healthy and happy little girl.  I had a skin condition that made me very itchy and a bit on the grumpy side.  That problem has been cleared up and now I am proud to say that I am itch free and WOW, does that ever feel great!!!

I love my foster parents very much and prefer the company of humans rather than other dogs.  My ideal forever home would be where I could be the only princess.  I have foster siblings now and they are OK and I know that for the time being we all need to be together.  I would just prefer to be an only dog getting all your love and attention.

My favorite thing to do is to play.  I will chase any toy that is thrown to me and sometimes I will bring it back.  I am finally figuring out that if I bring it back, it will be thrown again and the game can continue!  I also love to go on walks.  My foster parents have taught me to walk on a leash and I do it very well.  It’s exciting for me to see new things and smell new smells.  I know I said my favorite thing is to play, but it really is to have my ears rubbed and to be petted by my foster parents.  I am a little love-bug at heart and I definitely enjoy a good “pet” any time I can get it.

I am really a good little girl.  I am housebroken and know how to use a doggie door.  I promise that if you bring me into your family as your little princess you won’t be disappointed.  I have my very own Petfinder page so you can learn even more about me.  But, the best thing to do would be to contact my foster mom at karenluvspups@gmail.com.  She knows how special I am and what a great addition I would be to a family.  And, she would be more than happy to tell you all about me.  Please email her!!!!

I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots and am heartworm negative.

BENTLEY BEXAR

Hello!!!  My name is Bentley Bexar and I am one sweet and loving guy!  I am a 9 year old Lhasa Apso who has had quite an experience.  Let me tell you a bit about myself.  My first family did not want me anymore, so they took me to a local animal shelter.  Luckily the WONDERFUL volunteers at Lone Star found me there and rescued me.  They discovered that I had heartworm, so I have been undergoing treatment the past few months.  That was not easy for me.  When I was getting the treatment I had to be quiet and rest most of the day IN MY CRATE.  Bummers.  Now that I am heartworm free I can run and play!  I may be 9 years old, but I act much younger.  And, since I’m no longer confined I can explore my surroundings and just enjoy life.

I have problems with my eyes and need to have daily eye drops.  I am almost blind, but that doesn’t stop me.  I know my way around my foster home, where my foster mom is (especially around feeding time) and I love to play with my foster brothers.  I have no other physical problems, in fact I am one healthy happy little guy!!

Even though I had a rough beginning, I now know how lucky I am and I am ever so grateful.  I love my foster family, but I would really love to love my very own forever family.  I promise that I will be your faithful companion and be by your side.  If you think I might be just the perfect addition to your family, please contact my foster mom at Memegpaul@aol.com.  She will tell you what a wonderful little guy I am.  I also have my very own Petfinder page now!  Check it out for even more information about me.

I am altered, up to date on all shots and heartworm negative.

Hi!  My name is Allesandro and I am still up for adoption.  I just thought you should know that!  Could you be that special family for me?  Here’s my original story that was featured in April.  Please contact my foster mom about me. I really want a family to love and a home to be happy in for the rest of my life.

Allesandro

Ciao!  (That’s hello in Italian, just in case you didn’t know).  My name is Allesandro and I am a 3 year old, 16 pound, Lhasa Apso with a very Italian name!!!   I am a shy and quiet young lad, but once I get to know you I am very friendly, sweet, and happy!!!

I enjoy my foster brothers and sisters and I get along with them well.  I play a little with them outside, but if it’s nice out you can find me basking in the sunlight on the grass or the patio.  My most favorite thing to do is follow my foster mom around the house, yard, wherever.  She talks to me all the time and I love it when she pays attention to me.  I especially like it when she takes me on a walk with her.  I also LOVE to eat and I would eat everything in sight if my foster mom let me.  She gives me apple and carrot slices as treats so I can keep my handsome physique.

I have seizures sometimes, but I take medicine every day to control them so I do not have them very often.  I am also working on house-training and rarely have an accident.  I am getting better and better each day and I’m quite proud of my progress.

I would love to find a forever family of my own with someone to take care of me and love me.  I enjoy living with my foster family, but I know there is a special someone waiting for me.  Please contact my foster mom at myheartisdixie@yahoo.com .  She can tell you lots more about me.  Also, please take a look at my Petfinder page for even more information and pictures.

I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots and am heartworm negative.

Arrivederci and I hope to hear from you soon!

Arthur Deogi 04-05-2009-3047.JPG

Hello again!  My name is Arthur and I just wanted to say “I’M STILL HERE!!!!”  I am in a wonderful foster home with a great foster family, but I sure would like my very own forever home.  Here’s my little story when I was featured as Fluff of the Week back in April.  Read about me and check out my Petfinder page too.  My foster mom will tell you all about me and what a great companion I would be for YOU!!!  You can reach her at robbie@shih-tzurescue.com

Arthur

Hello!  My name is Arthur and I’d like to tell you a bit about myself.  First of all, I’d like to say that I REALLY, REALLY want to find my forever home.    I was found as a stray right before Hurricane Ike passed through Texas.  I was very lucky to wind up at Lone Star as I was not very healthy.  I had kennel cough and also was heartworm positive.  My heartworm treatment is finally finished and was successful.  Now I am healthy, happy, and ready for my new family to find me.

I am a 2 year old black and white Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu mix.  I weigh about 14 pounds or so.  My foster mom tells me that I am a sweet boy.  I’m a bit shy when I first meet you, especially if you are a man.  But, WOW do I ever love the ladies!  Actually, once I get to know you, even if you are a man, I will love, love, love you.  I know that I could be your forever friend.

My ideal forever home would be a quiet one with no young children.  I get along well with other dogs and I would also love to have another dog in my forever home.  Please think about me as part of your family.  I promise that I will be your forever friend.

You can read more about me on my Petfinder page.  Or, better yet, please email my foster mom at robbie@shihtzu-rescue.com.  She will tell you what a special little guy I am.  I deserve to find my very own special family.  Please let that be you.

CHULA (CHOLA)-I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:17 pm by Volunteers

Chula1.JPG

Hello!  My name is Chula and I am a 3 year old Lhasa Apso girl.  Chula is Spanish for pretty and you can see by my picture that I am definitely that!  Actually everyone says that I am cute, cute, cute!!!

I have been with my foster family for only about two weeks.  When I first got there I just didn’t know how to act.  I was bouncing all over the place with great exuberance and I think my foster brothers and sisters were a little scared of me.  But, my foster mom started teaching me manners and I am so much better and calmer now.  I just needed to learn how to be a dog!  I am very smart and I catch on to things quite quickly.

I LOVE to be around people.  My foster parents take me to Starbucks and another local restaurant all the time and I am SOOOOO good when I am there!  I really enjoy watching all the people.  I sit patiently waiting and watching and hoping that someone will drop something for me!  I also love to go in the car for rides and I get very excited when I hear my leash jingle.  That means that I am either going for a walk or on a new adventure.

 Chula2.JPG
Speaking of adventures…………..take a look at my picture in PetsMart.  My foster mom took me there and it was amazing!  I love squeaky toys and will play with them until they squeak no more.  When Mom took me to PetsMart and I saw ALL THE BINS WITH TOYS, I just couldn’t believe it.  Mom laughed at me and just had to take my picture because I was in seventh heaven.  I kept taking toys out of bins and a PetsMart employee followed me and put them back in the bins.  It was a great game that we were playing.

You can see that I am a fun-loving little girl who would love to find her forever home.  Please email my foster mom at mina184@yahoo.com.  She’ll tell you all about me.  Also, please look at my Petfinder page for even more information.

Hello out there!  I just want you to know that even though I have been at Lone Star a while I am up for adoption and definitely ready for my “furever” home.

I am a 7 year old Lhasa Apso lad.  I do have a bit of “Lhasatude” but what Lhasa Apso doesn’t??!!  I just need to know that you are the boss and I will then love, love, love, you.  And, I will be very loyal to you.  I am really a very sweet and loving boy.  I do love to be close to my foster mom and I especially like it when she scratches my ears, chin and back.  That is definitely the good life!!  I also will curl up next to my foster mom on the bed and give her kisses.  If she doesn’t start petting me or has stopped, I will “paw” her hand for more.

I have the Good Citizenship award, so I definitely know how to behave, but sometimes when my stubbornness kicks in so does the Lhasatude.  Because of that I need to go to a home without younger children.  Anyone over the age of 16 would be great though!  My perfect home would be one where my family understands my breed and also where I can be the only child – oops I mean dog!!

I really am a good boy and would love to find my forever home.  If you know, understand, and love the Lhasa Apso breed I’m your man!!  You can contact my foster family at adoptioninquiries@yahoogroups.com if you have any questions.  Also, please check out my Petfinder page.  I promise to love you.

TARIK – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:11 am by Volunteers

 Tarik 20090121 (3).JPG

Hello!  My name is Tarik and I am a 5 month old Shih Tzu baby.  My foster Mom said that I am the “runt of the litter”.  I think that must mean something special because she gave me special attention when I first came into foster care.  My foster Mom had to supplement feed me for a few weeks as my brothers and sisters wouldn’t let me eat often enough.  I was very tiny, but I showed them!  With all that special care and my own special food I have gotten bigger and stronger!  I’m still a bit smaller than my brothers, but I am about the same size as my sisters.

I am one sweet and loving guy.  I love to sit in my foster Mom’s lap and give her lots of big sloppy kisses.  I also love to play with my foster brothers and sisters, but I am particularly fond of my brother Darius.  We have a great time together.  Mom says that when I find my forever home I will need a young doggie playmate.  Maybe you might consider adopting one of my brothers or sisters along with me!

My foster mom is trying to teach me a trick.  She calls it a “High Five”.  I think she thinks I can learn this because when I play I bat my paws in a very cute way and it reminds her of a high five.

My coloring is quite unique if I say so myself.  I have black and red hair which gives my coat a mahogany coloring.  It is quite striking.  I also have a small white blaze on my chin and chest.

I am doing well with house training, but remember, I am still a puppy.  I am also crate trained and will sleep in my little crate at night.

If you would like any more information about me, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net.  Also, check out my really cute pictures and write-up on my Petfinder page!

DARIUS – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:13 pm by Volunteers

 Darius.JPG

Howdy!  My name is Darius and I am a 5 month old, black and tan Shih Tzu boy.  I am one of a litter of six and one of my siblings has already been adopted, so now there are six of us.  My mom says that my coat is “unique” and that I am quite the dashing youngster.  I weigh about 6 pounds now and am very healthy and happy.
I am also a sweet and loving little boy.  When I see my foster mom in the morning I am the first of the bunch to run and greet her and tell her hello!  When she is sitting in her chair or on the couch, I always come and put my front paws up so that she can pick me up.  I really enjoy her lap!!

I am also quite playful and enjoy the company of my brothers and sisters and also my older foster siblings.  If there is a grumpy dog that I encounter, I am definitely smart enough to leave him or her alone.  I love my soft little plush toys and enjoy a tug-of-war with one of my siblings now and then.  I also love my back yard.  Basically, I (and my 4 siblings) are just plain happy!  But, we will be happier when we find our forever homes.

I am also crate trained and I sleep in my little crate at night.  I have not had an accident in my crate and I will tell my foster family when I need to go outside.  I’m still learning all the housebreaking rules, and I am a quick learner for a 5 month old!!

If you think your family is ready for an adorable little Shih Tzu boy, please email my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net.  You can also check out my Petfinder page for even more information.  My foster mom would like me to have a playmate in my forever home, so if you don’t have another young, playful dog in the family, maybe you would like to adopt one of my brothers or sisters along with me.  I am particularly fond of Aziza, and we look just the same!!!

RHETT

 Rhett 12-14-2008-043.jpg

My name is Rhett and I am one of the “Gone with the Wind” dogs rescued from North Carolina last summer.  I am about 7 years old and weigh 10 pounds.  I am most likely a Shih Tzu/Chihuahua mix.  My foster mom says that makes me a Chi Tzu!!!  I think that’s pretty clever!!!

I came to Lone Star with no hair, mange, very bad skin and worms.  As you can see by my picture, I have lots of black and white hair now!  My skin is in great shape and I feel and look great.  Good nutrition, supplements and the love of my foster family has made me into a very happy boy.

I am very friendly and loving with both people and other dogs.  When I first came to Lone Star, I was very shy.   But, I have learned to love and trust my human friends and have become quite the social butterfly.  In fact, my foster mom says that I am a little lover.  She thinks that I would love to have a forever home where I could be King, or at least Prince, of the castle.  I think she’s right!!

I am healthy and the only lasting problem from my past life is that I have a heart murmur.  Currently, that’s not a problem for me at all.  I can still love you and be your forever friend.
If you think I could fit into your life, please look at my Petfinder page.  Also, email my foster mom at adoptioninquiries@yahoogroups.com for even more information on me.

BONNIE BLUE

Bonnie Blue 9-29-2008-022.jpg

Hello out there!!  My name is Bonnie and I am one tiny little Shih Tzu lady!  I am about 5-6 years old and I am one of the “Hairless North Carolina Shih Tzus” taken from a horrible living situation.  I am now living the high life in my foster home and guess what?  I found out that I love to wear little t-shirts and dresses!  They keep me warm because I have very little hair, and my little clothes are oh-so stylish too!

I am tiny at about 7 pounds or so.  I came to my foster home at 5 pounds and I put on weight fast – so fast that I had to go on a diet!  Now isn’t that just the silliest thing?  I am definitely getting lots of love, good food, and supplements and am now quite the healthy little gal.

Even without hair, my foster mom says that I am adorable.  I am also very sweet and loving when I get to know you.  I’m a bit shy at first, but when I find out that you have a lap to sit in, I warm up to you right away.

If you think I might fit into your home, please contact my foster mom at adoptioninquiries@yahoogroups.com.  She will tell you all about me.  Also, please look at my Petfinder page.  I need to be loved and I need to be spoiled and every lady needs a wardrobe!  Can you give me all those things?
