Hello out there! I am Percy and I am one cute little guy! I am a 1 ½ year old, 8-9 pound, Shih Tzu boy. I have mostly brown hair with some black markings and most of those markings are on my face.
I am young dog and will need another young playful dog in my forever home to be my companion and buddy. We could then play, play, play all day long! I like my foster brothers and sisters and we get along great. Sometimes, if one of the dogs wants to play too hard, I let him or her know that I’m not ready for that! Usually we play together just fine and have great fun! I also LOVE my doggie toys and would play with those all day if I could.
I also love all of my caregivers. They are great and I am SO happy when I see them! I am usually right there, demanding all the attention I can get. I make sure they hear about me and what I have done all day! They take me on walks and also on car rides. I do very well on both! And they give me lots of loving which is very important. They also give me TREATS. I LOVE treats! When I am all tuckered out, I fall asleep on my bed to get energy to start up again!
I do have a quirky side to me that I must tell you about. I have a bit of a stubborn streak and sometimes I don’t want to do what I am told. Usually I get in one of my “moods” when I am asked to go into my crate, or go outside to go potty. I can get a little nippy then, but if you leave me alone for a minute or two I settle down and am my sweet self again! One of my caregivers can then pick me up and take me out or put me in my crate without a problem. I have totally forgotten that I was upset two minutes before! Because I have this tendency, my forever home should not have any young children that might not understand what I am telling them. I do enjoy the company of older kids however, so it would be fine to have teens in my forever home. I really am a great little dog and would be perfect for someone willing to watch my moods and respect my warnings.
If you think you would like me to be a member of your family, please contact my friend at sherry352@sbcglobal.net. Also, I have my very own Petfinder page where you can see more pictures and learn even more about me. I hope you give me a chance. I promise that I would give you back all the love you give to me.

Hello! My name is Valerie and I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a gray and white 1 ½ year old Shih Tzu. I’m a tiny girl at 8-9 pounds, but I was smaller before I came into foster care. With lots of love and attention I have gained two pounds! My foster mom says I look very pretty!
Before the Lone Star volunteers found me I was living in a mobile home all by myself, as I had been abandoned by my owner. That’s when I weighed 6 pounds, had TONS of fleas, and really badly matted hair. I was totally neglected and abused, and very afraid of just about everything, including people. Here’s a “before” picture of me, after my hair was shaved.

When my foster mom first took me home I was even afraid of her. I had no idea that she was trying to help me and every time she would reach for me, or just try to touch me, I would scream. My foster mom was concerned that I might have something physically wrong with me, but when I was taken to the veterinarian for a check-up, he said that everything was fine. I was just screaming because I was terrified of everything. It took me a couple of weeks to realize that my foster family wants nothing more than to help me and love me. I have lived with them for almost a year now and I love them very much. I no longer scream all the time and they say that’s a good thing!!! I do still sometimes whimper when strangers try to hold me.
I am learning to love and trust. It’s taken a bit of time, but I am progressing quite nicely. I will give my foster mom kisses every morning and I really like when my foster dad shares his breakfast with me! I even love to cuddle with them. I especially like it when I get belly rubs! You see, I am learning what good things are all about!!! I’m still very wary of new situations and people, but I know that if I am with my foster family they will protect me. I would love to find a forever family to call my own, but I need a quiet house with loving adults who would be willing to continue to work with me. No children please in my forever home. I don’t think I could stand all that excitement!!
I have some foster brothers and sisters, but I really only trust one of them. I will play with my foster brother and I feel pretty comfortable around him. I have toys that I tend to attack and I particularly like to play with my foster parent’s shoes!! They have learned to hide them from me! When I am playing with my toys (or shoes), I growl and carry-on, and I am quite noisy. All I know is I am having fun and finally feeling like a normal content dog.
I am crate-trained and am quite good when I am in my crate. I am almost house-trained and will howl when I need to go outside. If my foster parents don’t hear me, I sometimes have an accident. But if I do, my favorite indoor spot to go is the bathroom!!! I am getting better and better though. I really don’t like to be groomed, and will let my feelings be known about that also.
Even though I am comfortable in my foster home, I would really like a forever home. I’m a young dog who needs to live the rest of my life with my very own family. I know that I have special needs, but I also know that SOMEONE out there would be willing to work with me and help me be your faithful and loving friend.
You can read more about me on my Petfinder page. Or, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net . She will tell you what a special girl I am and how I would fit in your family. Please give me a chance.

Hello!! I am Blitzen and I am a 2 year old, 12 pound, Lhasa Apso boy. My hair is brown and white and I have a boyish cut right now although my hair looks great when it is longer.
I am a fun little guy who loves to play, play, play. In fact, it would be lots of fun to have a doggie brother or sister to play with in my forever home. If there isn’t another dog for me, I will need my forever family to play with me, take good care of me, and just love, love, love me!!
One of my favorite things is to be with people. I am a happy-go-lucky little guy and my foster mom says that I am super-sweet! I will give everyone big slobbery kisses if they let me!! I am really good riding in a car and am also good walking on a leash. I LOVE to go on walks!! I’m not so good yet at potty training and I will need someone to help me get better at that. The problem is that there is just so much going on around me that I get easily side-tracked and forget what I am supposed to do!! I KNOW that I will get better though, but I need someone who is willing to work with me.
I am a smart little boy and I will sit and stay on command, especially if there is a treat involved! I do love my treats! And I will go in my crate when I have to, although I will bark for a while to let you know that I’m not happy about it!!
I’ve been in foster care since Christmas (hence the name Blitzen) and I’m ready to find my forever home. Do you think I could fit into your family? I promise I’ll do my best to please you! Please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net for more information about me. She will be sure to tell you that I am a great dog just waiting for a great family to love. Also, please look at my Petfinder page for even more information about me.

My name is Fitch and I am a young, male, Miniature Schnauzer mix. The folks at Lone Star think I might have either some Jack Russell or Havanese in me. Now, I can just hear you asking yourself, “What’s a Schnauzer/Jack Russell/Havanese Mix doing in a Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso Rescue?” It’s because I am so darn cute, they just couldn’t resist me!!!
I was at one of the local animal shelters and that’s where one of the volunteers at Lone Star found me. I was heartworm positive when I came into foster care and not feeling all that good. But now I am heartworm negative and healthy. I feel great AND I am now ready to find my forever home.
I am about 2 years old and I have white hair with a few black and brown spots. I am a playful, happy little dog who is always on the go. I LOVE to be in motion and my day consists mostly of PLAYING!!! I love to play with my foster brothers and sisters, then I play with all my human friends, then I play with my toys, then I go back to playing with the dogs, then, then, then. One of my caregivers said that it’s hard to get a picture of me because I am always on the go!!! I would love if my forever home had another young playful dog to be my playmate. I would also do great with children, but not really young children. I might be too playful for them!!!
Even though I am lively and playful, I do have a soft and sweet side and I am basically a very sweet and friendly boy. I love human companionship and I love to be petted and doted upon. I also love to go on walks with my foster mom by my side. I promise that if you bring me into your family I will both LOVE and ENTERTAIN you! Please give me a chance!
I am staying at a doggie day care center now where a lot of the Lone Star volunteers help us out, but I sure would love a foster home of my own while I search for my forever home. You can contact my friend at sherry352@sbcglobal.net to learn even more about me. Also, please check out my Petfinder page. I’m ready for my forever home.

OK, what is a Tibetan dog doing with a South American name like Chile? I’m not really sure! I like my name, but more important than that, I think I am one lucky boy. Let me tell you a little bit of my history, and you will see why.
I am a 4-5 year old, 18 pound, beige Lhasa Apso who was rescued by the volunteers at Lone Star from one of the local animal shelters. I was there because of being labeled a “biter” and was scheduled to be put to sleep. My previous family took me there because they said that I had bitten one of the neighbors. Actually, my owner admitted that I was being provoked by that neighbor, but I still wound up at the animal shelter. I am so grateful for the folks at Lone Star that they found me there and rescued me. I am now alive and well and hopefully soon I will be able to be adopted by that special someone and find my forever home.
I am pretty much an easy-going, sweet, and loving guy. I still get a little frightened of strangers (maybe I’m just cautious) and I might “nip” a bit at their heels when I first meet them. I need to be introduced to new people carefully, but once I get to know you, I am very loving. I seem to prefer the company of men and I have a favorite volunteer at Lone Star named Harrison. I follow him everywhere and I trust him. He also gives me lots of pets!!
I like other dogs, but only if they are more gentle and quiet. If there are some younger more rambunctious dogs around me, I tend to remind them that they need to behave. I guess this means that I would do best in a home with either no dog or an older gentle dog. I also would prefer a family, preferably a couple or single man, with a quiet lifestyle. No children please as they might not understand my special needs.
I am getting better and better each day and I know that I can be that special dog in your life. I am very loving to humans I know and trust. Please help me learn to trust you. Maybe I could follow you around and be your “little buddy”. I promise to give you a lifetime of love in return. If you would like to know more about me, please contact my foster family at sherry352@sbcglobal.net.

Bill Bailey won’t you please come “to your forever” home. Those are the words of that famous song that I long to hear! I would love to find a place and a family to call my own. Maybe if I tell you a bit about myself, you will see that I could be a perfect fit for your family!!! I have been featured as the Fluff of the Week before, and I just don’t know why I am still here!
I am a Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso Mix young boy, 6 years old or so, with beautiful white hair and big brown eyes. My foster mom says that I look like a little bear! I am a very sweet boy and I love to bury my head in my foster mom’s arms to let her know how much I love her. I love all people and think they are all my friends, but I do best with people over the age of 16 years. I’m OK with other dogs, but they need to respect me. I don’t particularly like dogs that are overly playful with me and “in my face”. So, I would probably do best in a family with no other dogs, or at least one as laid back as I am.
I am a good boy. I am housebroken, walk very well on a leash, and don’t bark unless it’s absolutely necessary. I am crate-trained and will sleep in my crate, although I must say I do prefer sleeping on a pillow next to my foster mom! I am also very good when riding in a car and will curl up in the seat. When my foster family comes home from errands or work, I am right there to greet them! I will follow my foster mom around the house just so she knows that I missed her while she was gone! If I want to play with my foster mom I will nibble at her toes to let her know that I am ready for playtime activities!! My one bugaboo is that I do not like to be groomed at all. Luckily my hair is very silky and short and it doesn’t need to be combed that often. My groomer says that I can be a challenge and my new groomer would need to understand a special dog like me!
I do have some medical issues that my new forever family needs to know about. I need to take eye drops daily for glaucoma and also for dry eye. I am VERY good when I get my drops as I know that they help me. My veterinarian says that the drops have stopped my glaucoma from getting worse, so it’s important that I stay on this medicine. I also have some allergy issues and need high quality food and supplements to keep my coat shiny and my skin healthy. I had some problems in the past with getting upset with people, but I was in pain from my skin condition. Now that I am pain-free and healthy, I’m a good boy.
If you think that I might fit into your family, please contact my foster mom at migi@lsstlar.org You can also check me out on my Petfinder page for even more information!

My name is Rory and I am a 12 pound, 4 year old gray and white Shih Tzu boy. I’ve been in foster care at Lone Star for about 2 years now. When I came into foster care I was not a very friendly or happy little guy. My foster mom thinks that in my past life I was abused and that’s what caused my problems. My foster mom has been wonderful with me and she knew that there was a great little guy under all that gruffness just waiting to come out. She has helped me with my temper and I now can meet and greet people without a problem.
I must tell you that I still get a little upset when I have to get a bath and be groomed. I am MUCH better than I was, but I still don’t like it. I do fine with the bath part, but that bath means I have to be DRIED! I just don’t like to be towel dried and I get a little crazy when I’m rubbed with a towel! My foster mom has learned that I prefer air drying to towel rubs! She told the groomer about these little idiosyncrasies of mine and we now understand each other. The groomer makes me look great – even though she says it’s not that easy!
When I am at the doggie day care center I get lots of love and attention. The employees of the center pet me and play with me all day long. I can even be picked up and petted by people I know and love. This is a big, positive change from when I first came into foster care. Sometimes I do get a bit upset when someone tries to make me do something I don’t want to do. I will give a little growl to let you know that I’m not happy. I think that my forever home needs to have no children just in case they don’t understand what my little growl means. I also need to make certain that my forever family understands that I have a history of abuse and aggression and might bite if I’m at the groomer being TOWEL-DRIED!!
I’m OK with my foster brothers and sisters and enjoy a good romp and play. I also love to get treats and to be spoiled by all the folks at the doggie day care center. My attitude and socialization skills have improved so much in the past two years. I actually wag my tail when I see people approaching me! And I know that treats and pets are often waiting for me when I see these people. I have learned that trust is a good thing.
I need a very special someone to continue helping me be the great dog I know I can be. I’ve come a long way and I know that I can give you lots of love in return. If you think I can fit into your family, please contact my foster mom at Teresa@shihtzu-rescue.com Take a look at my Petfinder page for even more information about me.

Hello! My name is Brenda and what a sweet girl I am! I’m a 10 year old Lhasa Apso, but I really don’t act my age. My foster mom says that I am very nice, gentle, have good manners, and I am quite the lover! What more could you ask for? I was left alone in my backyard after my first mom died. The folks at LoneStar then took me in and are taking wonderful care of me. I know my foster family loves me, but I would sure LOVE to find my very own forever family.
I am a long legged, slender gal at 15 pounds and could stand to gain a pound or two. I have pretty good metabolism, though, and may just stay slim for awhile. I do have a skin condition that is probably caused by allergies. Because of that my hair is a bit sparse. My foster mom gives me a soothing bath now and then and that makes my skin feel SOOOOOOO good! I also had surgery for cherry eye which is a very common problem in dogs like me. That has been corrected and I am good to go!! I’m OK with my foster brothers and sisters, but I actually prefer to be by myself. I do play with some of my foster siblings a little, but I don’t go out of my way to find a playmate. Sometimes I get a little annoyed with the younger, more active dogs. I guess I’m just a quiet, laid-back little lady who prefers a pillow to a pillow fight!!
If you think I might fit into your family, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net or sherry@pawpawpatch.net. I know she will tell you what a wonderful gal I am. You can also look at my Petfinder page for even more information about me. Please give me a chance in your home. I really would love to be loved. I am Donnie and I am a 4 year old Lhasa Apso with beautiful, silky white hair. I weigh about 14 pounds or so. Even though I could stand to gain a few pounds more, my build is quite slender so I look good at the weight I am now! My foster mom tells me that I have a great metabolism. I’m not really sure what that means except that I can eat, eat, eat and I don’t gain very much weight. I LOVE my food and I make certain that I am close by when my foster mom is making my breakfast, dinner, snacks, whatever! As long as there is food involved I am happy.
I came to Lone Star with some aggression issues as I am frightened of people I do not know. I tend to bark at strangers and also nibble at their feet a little. My foster mom says that I am doing much better now with new people, but I still prefer the company of those I know. It just takes me a little extra time to get to know a new person and to trust them. My new forever home needs to understand this and give me some time to adjust to all that is new. I like children, but to be honest I think I would be better off with a forever family of adults only.
Because I love to be hugged and petted, give lots of kisses, and get attention from humans, I know that I need to be comfortable around them. I am a sweet boy and love to love my family and friends. I particularly like to spend time in my foster mom’s lap and when I’m there I give her lots of kisses and let her give me lots of love in return.
I do well with my foster brother and sister dogs, and I will occasionally play with them and go for a romp in the yard. I must admit though, I do prefer the company of humans. If I am with someone I know and love, I am the happiest little dog ever. All I want to do is to please you and be with you!
Mom says that I am learning housebreaking quite nicely and when I get to my forever home it will take me no time flat to figure out what to do.
I am just a very special little dog who would make a wonderful addition to your family. I promise to be a good boy as long as you help me when I meet strangers. I will give you lots of love in return and slobber you with kisses!
Please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net if you think I could fit into your family. Also, please check out my Petfinder page for even more information and pictures!

Hello! Let me introduce myself. I am Lil Bit (short for Little Bit of Love) and I am a wonderful Shih Tzu boy. I am about 9-10 years old and I have black hair with little white paws. My eyes are dark brown and they are a bit cloudy due to my age. But, don’t let my age scare you. Remember, Shih Tzus live a long life and I am planning on being around for a long while as I am very healthy!
My foster Mom and Dad found me at the local animal shelter and am I ever glad they did!! I was actually found wandering in a field by a Good Samaritan and taken to the shelter. My family couldn’t be found, so I now have a foster family – BUT I am definitely looking for my forever home and a forever family to love.
I am very sweet and loving and am easy to have around the house. I get along with my foster brothers and sisters, so if my new home had another dog, that would be just fine with me. I also am happy to meet new people. I especially like my foster dad. My foster parents think that I might have been in a family with an older gentleman as I particularly like to be around men. I’m not too certain about children yet as I haven’t been around very many. But, I think older children who understand about dogs would be just fine with me.
I understand when my foster mom tells me that we are going on a car ride. I LOVE to go in the car and am very good. I also love to go on walks and am quite good on the leash. I am very calm and gentle when I walk. I just like to take in all the sights around me! I’m also learning housebreaking and am getting better and better each day.
I spend a lot of time sleeping, and I will sleep under the table, chairs or even the bed. At night I sleep in my little bed in my parent’s bedroom. I also love to follow my foster parents around the house. I look up at them and try to tell them that I am so grateful they rescued me. I particularly like it when my foster mom gives me a chewy stick. I will take that stick and follow her around the house. She laughs at me because it looks like I have a big cigarette hanging from my mouth! I have also figured out where Mom and Dad keep my treats. When I want one of those I start a funny low bark to get their attention. My little bark sounds like an engine revving up, then I bark three times for my treat. I’ve got them trained because whenever I do that I manage to get one!
I hope that you can see what a great little guy I am. I am quiet, loving, and very laid back. I love to get lots of attention, but I also love just being by your side. Please contact my foster mom at daffyduck76@comcast.net. She will tell you lots more about me. Also, please check out my Petfinder page for even more information. I would love to be a part of your family. I promise to give you lots of years of loving!
