My name is Benjamin and I am SO VERY HAPPY to be a Lone Star dog! I was very ill, underweight and in very bad shape when I was found. And now I am ready for adoption. WOW!! I just can’t believe how much I have changed over the past few months. You can read what Teresa said about me here: http://lonestarshihtzurescue.com/blog/ Look under the date 9/7/08 for my full story.
But, let me tell you a bit about myself now. I am a 2 year old very sweet and loving young Shih Tzu boy. Since I first came to Lone Star I have gained some weight. When I was found I was starving and very thin. The veterinarians were not even sure that I would live as I had lapsed into a coma. I was given fluids, antibiotics and eventually was able to take in nutritious food and supplements. What a difference in me now! I am now a strong boy and getting healthier and healthier as each day goes by. As you can see by my picture I am walking and able to enjoy my life. I had to have one of my eyes removed due to a old injury, but that does not stop me in the least. I am one happy guy!!
I love to be with people and enjoy sitting in any lap that comes along. I get along very well with everybody and I also get along great with my foster brother and sister dogs. If there were another easy-going dog in my forever home that would be fine with me. I promise I’ll share your lap!
If you think that I might fit into your family, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net. Also, please look at my Petfinder page for even more information. We hope to hear from you soon!!

Hello out there! My name is Abner and I am very excited that I am the featured Fluff of the Week!! Way cool for me!
I am a 1–1 ½ year old Lhasa Apso boy with a gray coat. If there was one thing I could say about myself, it would be that I LOVE my people!! There’s nothing better for me than to be sitting in a lap getting my belly rubbed. In fact, I will jump in ANY available lap at ANY time to get lots of loving. You will find that I am very sweet and quite easy going and generally a very happy boy.
Besides loving my foster family very much, I also enjoy the company of my foster sister Schnitzel. We play a lot and we get along great. Sometimes I’m not that happy with my other foster brothers and sisters because they like to play with my toys. They just don’t realize that those toys are mine!!! Even though I am a little possessive of my toys (and my people) I would still LOVE to have another playful young dog in my forever home. I promise we would get along great and we would have a lot of fun playing with one another. I also love children, but those over the age of 10 only please. They are old enough to respect my needs.
I am definitely ready for my forever family and some laps to call my very own. I would love to be a part of YOUR family. Please check out my Petfinder page for more information. Also, my foster mom would be more than happy to tell you all about me. You can email her at sherry352@sbcglobal.net. I thrive on lots of attention and if you are willing to give me lots of loving – I’ll be your forever companion.

Greetings! My name is Cameron and I am a 3 year old Lhasa Apso boy. I have beautiful reddish brown and white hair and I am quite handsome and trim at 15 pounds.
I am VERY shy right now and don’t play with my foster brothers and sisters very much. I just sit back and watch all that is going on around me from afar. My human friends at our Doggie Day Care Center say that I look sad and lonesome. You see, I came from a breeder who decided that she did not want me any more. That’s why I tend to stay by myself most of the time and why I am so shy. I was left alone ALL the time at the breeder and never learned how to play with other dogs or how to trust humans. I really need a family who will help me become socialized and confident so I can come out of my shell and be the best dog that I know I can be.
Once I get to know you I am very nice and sweet. As I said, I don’t play with my foster brothers and sisters, but I don’t mind them being around me at all. My ideal forever family would include one or two adults who would LOVE to have a faithful companion by their side. And, I definitely need someone willing to put in the time to help me become more outgoing and trusting. Maybe that special someone is YOU!!!
If you think that I could fit into your life, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net. She will tell you more about me and how I desperately need to find my forever family. You can also look on my Petfinder page for more information. I promise that will a little love and attention from you, I will come out of my shell and be your forever friend.

My name is Stilton and I am an 8 year old Lhasa Apso boy. I have a really nice white coat. I found my way to Lone Star from the SPCA. I am so very happy and grateful that the folks at the SPCA contacted Lone Star as now I have a second chance on life.
You see, I had been neglected by my previous family. My hair was matted and I needed to be shaved down. My toenails had not been cut for a very long time. They had grown so long that they curled into circles and that made it very difficult for me to walk. BUT, all that is changed and I am now happy and healthy and ready for my forever home.
I may be 8 years old, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to play!!! Now that I am comfortable and can walk and run without a problem, I spend most of my time PLAYING! I will play with my foster brothers and sisters or with my human friends who will toss a toy to me so I can play fetch. I am just a great, easy going, happy-go-lucky boy who loves to PLAY!!!
If you think that I could fit into your family, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net. Also, check out my Petfinder page for even more information.

Hello!! My name is Chowder and what a cute little guy I am! I am a 1 year old gray and white Shih Tzu with the cutest face you have ever seen! Not only am I cute, but I am just a great little guy and I am ready for my lifetime home. Let me tell you a bit about myself.
I came to Lone Star from one of the local animal shelters. I had hair loss due to fleas, but with special food and supplements, my hair is now thick and healthy and I look GREAT! I can honestly say that I am very healthy and very happy!
I love, love, love people and will give you lots of kisses if you let me. I particularly like laps and will try to sit on your lap any chance I get. If you are not petting me or giving me enough attention, I will give you gentle head-bumps until you do! Basically, I love to be cuddled and loved.
I get along well with my foster brothers and sisters and since I am a youngster, I would like my forever home to have another young dog in it so that we can play together. That would be perfect!! I also LOVE to go on walks so that I can explore my surroundings and learn new things. The walks also help me release some of my youthful energy!!
If you would like a young, playful dog for your family, please think of me! I promise that you won’t be disappointed! Please contact sherry352@sbcglobal.net for more information. And, you can also check out my Petfinder page!

Greetings!! My name is Gianna and I am a 6-8 year old, 13 pound, Shih Tzu gal. I am so very happy to be a rescued dog at Lone Star! My life before being rescued was a tough one. Now I am looking forward to the day when I will find the good life with my forever family. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
Before I was rescued, I was what they call a breeder’s dog. I had many litters of puppies for the breeder and probably due to my age I was no longer needed anymore. That’s when the breeder got rid of me and Lone Star found me. I was in pretty bad shape. I was anemic, dehydrated, and my coat was in very bad condition. My tummy was swollen and since I had just had a litter of puppies, I still had some milk. My new found Lone Star friends started me on good quality food, some supplements and lots of fluids so I could get better. AND, I have gotten better and better each day!!!
There is a downside to all this however. You see, I had to be put on a diet also. I LOVE my food and I have not been very happy with the fact that my foster mom is not giving me all the food I want! I know it is for the best, but I’m still not happy about it!!! Because I had all those puppies, my back is swayed a little and the extra weight on me is not good for that. Also, I had to have surgery to correct a broken leg that didn’t heal correctly. Extra weight on that leg is also not a good thing. I have a little limp and need to take walks daily so that my leg will strengthen. The limp doesn’t bother me though and I am a happy little girl. Mom says that walking will also help me control my weight!
I love to be held and sit in any lap I can find that’s empty. Lots of pets are a good thing and I really appreciate all that I get. Being a breeder’s dog meant that I was not given much loving in the past. I am very quiet and reserved and am quite happy sitting on my little bed watching what is happening around me. But if there is a lap available – I’m there!!! I will also give you lots of kisses in return for lots of loving!!
I’m OK with the other dogs here, but I prefer to be left alone. Some of the younger dogs tend to bump into me when they are playing and I’m not too happy about that. So, I guess my ideal lifetime home would be a quiet one, with no small children. I’m really good with ALL people, but young children tend to be a bit rambunctious for me.
If you think that I could be a part of your family, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net. She will tell you what a special gal I am. I had a hard life and I really feel that I am ready for the good life. Also, please look at my Petfinder pager for even more information about me. I promise to make you happy!!!

Hello again!! I am still here waiting for my lifetime home. My foster mom tells me that I am just the sweetest little dog ever! And, even though I am an older dog, I am still very alert and active. I would love to go on walks, car rides, or whatever my new forever family would want. I am healthy and loving and waiting for YOU!!!
My original story is after my picture. Please read about me and contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net if you think I could be a part of your family!!! I promise I won’t disappoint you!

Hello! My name is Brenda and what a sweet girl I am! I’m a 10 year old Lhasa Apso, but I really don’t act my age. My foster mom says that I am very nice, gentle, have good manners, and I am quite the lover! What more could you ask for?
I was left alone in my backyard after my first mom died. The folks at LoneStar then took me in and are taking wonderful care of me. I know my foster family loves me, but I would sure LOVE to find my very own forever family.
I am a long legged, slender gal at 15 pounds and could stand to gain a pound or two. I have pretty good metabolism, though, and may just stay slim for awhile. I do have a skin condition that is probably caused by allergies. Because of that my hair is a bit sparse. My foster mom gives me a soothing bath now and then and that makes my skin feel SOOOOOOO good! I also had surgery for cherry eye which is a very common problem in dogs like me. That has been corrected and I am good to go!!
I’m OK with my foster brothers and sisters, but I actually prefer to be by myself. I do play with some of my foster siblings a little, but I don’t go out of my way to find a playmate. Sometimes I get a little annoyed with the younger, more active dogs. I guess I’m just a quiet, laid-back little lady who prefers a pillow to a pillow fight!!
If you think I might fit into your family, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net or sherry@pawpawpatch.net. I know she will tell you what a wonderful gal I am. You can also look at my Petfinder page for even more information about me. Please give me a chance in your home. I really would love to be loved.

My name is Blitzen and you have read about me here before. I have a new foster family and am learning lots of new things. I am now much calmer than I was and, most importantly I AM NOW HOUSETRAINED!!! Cool, huh?
Please check out my Petfinder page for more information. You can also learn more about me by emailing sherry352@sbcglobal.net. with any questions you might have. I could be the PERFECT dog for your family!!
Here’s my picture and my write-up from August, 2008. I’m still a great little guy patiently waiting for my lifetime home!

Hello!! I am Blitzen and I am a 2 year old, 12 pound, Lhasa Apso boy. My hair is brown and white and I have a boyish cut right now although my hair looks great when it is longer.
I am a fun little guy who loves to play, play, play. In fact, it would be lots of fun to have a doggie brother or sister to play with in my forever home. If there isn’t another dog for me, I will need my forever family to play with me, take good care of me, and just love, love, love me!!
One of my favorite things is to be with people. I am a happy-go-lucky little guy and my foster mom says that I am super-sweet! I will give everyone big slobbery kisses if they let me!! I am really good riding in a car and am also good walking on a leash. I LOVE to go on walks!! I’m not so good yet at potty training and I will need someone to help me get better at that. The problem is that there is just so much going on around me that I get easily side-tracked and forget what I am supposed to do!! I KNOW that I will get better though, but I need someone who is willing to work with me.
I am a smart little boy and I will sit and stay on command, especially if there is a treat involved! I do love my treats! And I will go in my crate when I have to, although I will bark for a while to let you know that I’m not happy about it!!
I’ve been in foster care since Christmas (hence the name Blitzen) and I’m ready to find my forever home. Do you think I could fit into your family? I promise I’ll do my best to please you! Please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net for more information about me. She will be sure to tell you that I am a great dog just waiting for a great family to love. Also, please look at my Petfinder page for even more information about me.I am altered, up to date on all shots and heartworm negative.

I thought you would like to know that I am on complete “crate rest”. My veterinarian thinks that I tore my ACL when I jumped off the couch last week. SOOOO, I need to be very quiet and not move very much so that I can heal. Hopefully, if all goes as planned, I will not need any surgery. It’s hard to be that still, but I am trying!!

I’m Garrett and I have been the featured Fluff of the Week before. Now I have a problem that I want to tell you about as I’m probably going to need medical attention.
This morning I jumped off the couch at my foster family’s home and I hurt my leg. I SCREAMED and my foster mom came running. She saw that I could not stand on my right rear leg. I don’t know what happened and Mom is taking me to the veterinarian to have my leg checked out. I’m a little scared, so please keep me in your thoughts. I know that Teresa will keep you informed of what actually happened and how I am progressing.
Just in case you don’t remember me, here’s my original Fluff of the Week story and also my picture.

My name is Garret and I am a 9-10 year old Lhasa Apso/Poodle mix. I am one very lucky little guy since the wonderful folks at Lone Star found me. I had a rough beginning, but you should see me now!!! I was found as a stray and taken to the local animal shelter. I was quite the mess when the volunteers at Lone Star rescued me. I had very long hair that was dirty and matted and I desperately needed a bath. Once I got a bath, a haircut, medical care, and lots of love from my foster family, I came out of my shell. I am now a happy, handsome and healthy boy and I am ready to find my forever home. I know that I am a little older, but that shouldn’t matter as I am a spunky, fun-loving dog who is ready for his forever home. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my foster family and my foster siblings very much, but I think I deserve to have a real forever family to call my own.
I have REALLY long legs and my foster mom calls me My Little Pony because of it. She laughs at me because when I run I’m kind of clumsy and I tend to trip over myself a bit. I get SOOOO excited when I run and play. I particularly like to play fetch. So it’s important that in my new home there is someone who will play with me and hopefully take walks with me. Going on walks is one of my favorite things to do and I do quite well on a leash. My long legs can go a great distance!! My ideal home would be one with older children to play with me and maybe another doggie playmate.
My foster mom also calls me My Little Pony because when we are on the couch I love to nuzzle her neck just like horses do. I am really a lovebug at heart and love to cuddle and get pets. I am a little shy at first, but once I get to know you I will be your best friend. I’m also learning that being a lap dog is great!! I am housebroken, I love to be around other dogs, and just love to get attention from my foster mom and the family.
If you think that I would fit into your family, please contact my foster mom at arizonatzu@yahoo.com. She will tell you all about me. I promise that I will love you and be your forever friend if you give me a chance.
