BEYONCE – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:23 am by Administrator

Beyonce 20080329_1.jpg

My name is Beyonce and I am 5 year old female Lhasa Apso/Poodle mix with an attitude!!  But not a bad attitude – just like my namesake I have lots of spunk!  But, I have a softer side and am also very sweet and loving.  I am about 11 pounds or so and have beautiful blond hair and am quite a pretty girl!!   I know the real Beyonce is a great singer, but I can’t say that about myself!  I don’t howl, but I will bark with the best of them!

I only have one eye, but that does not stop me from knowing what’s happening around me.  Sometimes I have to tilt my head a bit so I am sure I don’t miss anything around me.  I love people, but I’m a little aloof until I get to know you.  I love to be around my foster family.  I especially like it if someone is sitting on the couch, because you can be sure I will be in that lap either sleeping or being petted!  I’m also very good with my foster brother and sister dogs, so if there is another dog in your home I’m certain to get along with him or her!  I’m OK with older children, but no younger ones please.  I tend to like MY toys and MY food and wouldn’t want to share.

Mom tells me that I am doing really well learning housebreaking and she says I am getting better and better each day.  I am definitely a good girl and my main goal is to please you.  I don’t ask for much except of course to be in your lap and FOOD!  I love to eat!  I am also crate-trained and sleep in my crate at night.  Playing with the other dogs, taking long walks with my foster family, and riding in cars are other things I enjoy doing.  And did I mention FOOD?

I am also a very inquisitive girl.  I tend to want to know EVERYTHING that is going on around me.  My foster mom says that if I could talk I would be asking questions all the time!!  With my little head tilt, it’s natural to think that I am looking at you and questioning what you are saying!

I hope when you read about me you will realize what a sweet girl I am and how wonderful it would be if I could find my forever family.  Please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net for more information.  You can also look at my Petfinder page to see even more pictures of me.

I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots and am heartworm negative.

SIENNA – FOREVER FOSTER

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:46 pm by Administrator

Sienna new.jpg

Hello Again!  My name is Sienna and I am a Forever Foster.  And now I am also a featured Fluff of the Week!!  Wow I must be pretty special!  I am definitely a special senior lady, but also my foster mom can’t take care of me any more as she is going away for a number of weeks.  I REALLY need to find either a new foster home or be adopted by someone who understands my special needs and will look beyond those needs and see just me.  I had a very lonely life before I found my way to Lone Star Shih Tzu Rescue and now I know what it’s like to be loved and taken care of.  Please help me live the rest of my life to the fullest.

You can read all about me on my Forever Foster page (posting date 5/18/08), but let me tell you just a little bit about myself here.  I am 9-10 years old and I have beautiful champagne colored hair.  I have problems with hearing and I also don’t see very well.  I tend to startle if I don’t know you are around me.  However, if I know that you are close to me, I will beg you for loving and pets.  My favorite thing, besides food, is to be with my people.  I do sleep a lot, so when I am awake I want to be either eating or right by your side.  I am on some pills for arthritis and another to help my memory.  I also need medicine for my eyes every day and I am patient when mom puts these drops in.  My foster dad fed me my breakfast one morning and put my pill in a little bit of cheese in my dog bowl with the rest of my food. I gobbled up the pill and the cheese in no time flat, sniffed the food in my bowl, and walked away without eating my dog food. (Of course I left the dog food in the bowl as there was nothing interesting to eat in there that I could tell!)  I came back a few minutes later to see if anything had changed and it hadn’t so I left it again and walked away.  But the third time was a charm!  Dad had put some pumpkin in with my food.  I thought that was great and ate all my food and licked the bowl clean!  I just hope they put pumpkin in my food again soon!!Because I was left alone and neglected in my previous home, I now have to relearn many things and to be honest with you that has been very hard for me.   I am a bit confused about many things.  I am relearning housebreaking and my foster mom knows that when I get up from my nap I need to go outside right away.  I don’t bark at all, so my foster mom needs to see me at the back door to know that I need to go out.  I am getting better at this.  My foster mom takes me outside on a leash because if I stray a bit I might get myself into trouble, like falling into the pool!!  That would NOT be a good thing!  I know that all this relearning is going to be a long process, so that why I need someone very special and patient to take care of me.  I do promise that I will be as good as I possibly can! If you would like to learn more about me please contact my foster mom at wilma.f.winter@us.army.milI am altered, up-to-date on all my shots and am heartworm negative.

JUNE BUG – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:54 am by Administrator

June Bug new.JPG

I’m the featured fluff of the week again!!  That’s a good thing!  AND there’s good news about me that we wanted to share.  My allergies are so much better and I now look GREAT and feel GREAT!  I would really like a forever family of my own!
My name is June Bug and I am one lucky little lady.  I am a beige and white Shih Tzu mix and am about 1 year old. I am a very petite little girl.  I only weigh about 7 pounds.   I was found as a stray in June of 2007 (that’s one of the reasons my name is June Bug) and I had no hair when I came into foster care.  I have a serious skin condition and when I was found I was at my worst.  Luckily, the WONDERFUL Lone Star volunteers have been helping me and you can see by my picture that I now have HAIR and……………………I’m as cute as a bug!!!  That’s the second reason my name is June Bug!!!

My hair is growing out nicely now and I’m just about to need a real hair cut! It turns out that I have a skin condition due to allergies that is very severe and it causes me to lose my hair and break out in a rash when I’m not on medication.  My foster mom and the other volunteers have tried lots of things to help me and they have finally found something that has cleared up my outbreaks.  My life is now normal and I am a VERY happy-go-lucky little lady who loves to play!  No more itching and scratching!  I can play to my hearts’ content!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I am a very sweet girl who has lots of years of love to give.  My favorite thing would be to find a forever family with a lot of laps for me to lounge in.  I love to cuddle and get pets while I am curled up in my foster mom’s lap!  I would really prefer to go to a home with another young dog for me to play with.   I am very good with other dogs and I love to play with my foster brothers and sisters.  BUT, if one of them gets my favorite squeaky ball – watch out!  I will get it back and squeak that ball and carry it all day long!!!  It is definitely my favorite toy.   I like to play fetch with it, too.
I don’t bark very much, but when I do you know it is me because my bark is quite high pitched.  My foster mom finds it rather cute so she will get me to howl sometimes to show her friends how special I am.  I am also learning house-breaking and my foster mom says that I am just about there.

I am truly a special little fluff who needs a forever family who will love me, take care of me, and understand my special needs.  I will need someone who is willing to take care of me medically for the rest of my life. The medicine that I take needs to be given to me on a regular basis.  Also, my medicine may need to be adjusted over time, and could possibly stop working at some point.  It is also possible that I may outgrow my allergies and not need medicine at all!  That would be WAY COOL!  My forever family needs to understand that I may need frequent veterinarian visits.  That’s a lot to ask for in a family, but I will tell you now that I am worth it.  I promise to love you in return and sit on your lap as long as you want me to.
If you think that I could fit into your life, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net.  She will tell you all about me.  Also, please look at my Petfinder page for even more information.  My foster mom says that it will be hard to let me go, but she knows the best thing for me is my own forever family.

BRIDGETTE – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:38 pm by Administrator

BridgetFrontHalf.jpg

My name is Bridgette and I am a VERY special Shih Tzu/Westie lady.  I am 8-9 years old and I weigh 14 pounds which makes me just the perfect size to end up in your lap getting hugs and kisses.  And, if you pick me up to hug me, I will put my front paws around your neck and give you a hug back!

I may be mature, but I definitely do not act my age!  In fact, I run circles around my foster siblings and always make sure that I am in the front of the pack, just so I don’t miss a thing going on.  I am just a very active gal who needs to make certain that all is well around me.

My foster mom made a video of me and if you click on my Petfinder page, you can see it.  I think I am quite cute in it!!  You can see that I know my name and will come running with a definite purpose in mind when Mom calls me.  Mom says that I am like the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland.  I am just busy, busy, busy.  I am great with other dogs and I like children also, but they need to be old enough to respect me and my age.  All I want is a family, single person, or couple, to love me forever!!

I am very healthy and only have the beginnings of cataracts.  I did have bladder stones when I first came to Lone Star, but I have fully recovered from those.  You can read about me when I wasn’t feeling so great at http://lonestarshihtzurescue.com/blog/2008/02/26/desperately-seeking-help/  I am housetrained to a dog door, so I would love it if my forever home has one of those!

If you think I could fit into your family, please contact my foster mom at lhasatzu4u@verizon.net .  She will tell you what a wonderful little lady I am.  She’ll also tell you that I can make you love me in no time flat.  Also, check out my Petfinder page for even more information.  I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots, and am heartworm negative.

SPIKE LEE – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:51 am by Administrator

Spike Lee Turner.jpg

Spike Lee, that’s my name, and what a WAY COOL name for a WAY COOL dog!  I am a 14 pound, blond Shih Tzu.  And, just like my namesake, I have tons of personality.  Even though they say that I am 8-9 years old, you would never know it.  I act much younger and am a super-lively little guy who loves life.  Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I am truly a lover and I thrive on attention.  I follow my foster mom all over the house as I just want to be with her.  I love to get all the pets and attention that I can.  My foster mom also says that I am a great little guy because I am perfectly house-trained.  I love to get treats from my foster mom too, and will eat my little biscuits right then and there.  But, if Mom gives me a little soft beef-treat, I will run upstairs with it and hide it in a corner to go back to savor at a later date.  Sometimes I forget I hid it though and Mom has to remind me it’s there!
I get along great with other dogs and will play with my foster siblings.  I will play with my toys and I particularly like it when Mom plays fetch with me.  BUT there is one very special dog that I LOVE to play with who LOOKS JUST LIKE ME!!!  This dog lives in Mom’s bedroom closet and when I go in there I see him.  When he runs, I run.  When I tap on his paw, he taps back.  And when I bark at him I can see he’s barking too but I don’t hear anything!!   I run from one end of the bedroom to the other watching this dog do the same thing!!  Mom laughs at me at tries to tell me that I’m looking at my reflection in her mirror, but I don’t believe her.  That’s just another friendly dog for me to play with.
I also love to go on walks and I do very well on a leash.  I don’t pull or tug and I am VERY observant of my surroundings.  I love to see the birds, squirrels, and ducks.  I think that everyone and everything on two or four legs should be my friend!!
I am quite healthy but I do require some eye drops every day.  I don’t mind these at all and am very good when my mom is putting the drops in my eyes.  Basically I am just a super-cute, super-friendly, lively little guy who would love to find his forever home. No small children please, but ones over 8 years old should be old enough to respect me.  Another fun dog to play with would also be GREAT!!
If you think you might be interested in adopting me, please contact my foster mom at cuties1616@yahoo.com.  She can tell you lots more about me.  Also, please check out my Petfinder page for even more information.  I promise you won’t be disappointed if you adopt me!
