Hello!!  My name is June Bug and I am one lucky little lady.  I am a beige and white Shih Tzu mix and am about 1 year old.  I was found as a stray in June of 2007 (that’s one of the reasons my name is June Bug) and I had no hair when I came into foster care.  I have a serious skin condition and when I was found I was at my worst.  Luckily, the WONDERFUL Lone Star volunteers have been helping me and you can see by my picture that I now have HAIR and……………………I’m as cute as a bug!!!  That’s the second reason my name is June Bug!!!

Here’s what I looked like when I came to Lone Star.  Don’t I look GREAT now!!! June Bug before.jpg

My hair is a bit sparse and fuzzy now, but it is growing out and soon, I hope, I will have long hair!!  It turns out that I have a skin condition due to allergies that is very severe and it is causing me to lose my hair and break out in a rash.  My foster mom and the other volunteers have tried lots of things to help me and they have finally found something that has lessened my outbreaks.  The problem is that the medication is expensive.  With regular soothing baths and the medication, my life is fairly normal and I am a VERY happy-go-lucky little lady.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I am a very sweet girl who has lots of years of love to give.  My favorite thing would be to find a forever family with a lot of laps for me to lounge in.  I love to cuddle and get pets while I am curled up in my foster mom’s lap!  I don’t take up much room as I only weigh 7 pounds.  I also am very good with other dogs and I love to play with my foster brothers and sisters.  BUT, if one of them gets my favorite squeaky ball – watch out!  I will get it back and squeak that ball and carry it all day long!!!  It is definitely my favorite toy and it’s right next to me in my picture.

I don’t bark very much, but when I do you know it is me because my bark is quite high pitched.  My foster mom says that when I bark her toes curl.  I don’t really know what that means, but she never gets mad at me, so I guess my bark is just fine!!  Matter of fact, she thinks it is so funny that she eggs me on sometimes so I can sing for her friends! I am also learning house-breaking and my foster mom says that I am just about there.

I am truly a special little fluff who needs a forever family who will love me, take care of me, and understand my special needs.  I will need someone who is willing to take care of me medically for the rest of my life. The medicine that I am on needs to be given daily and I will need frequent baths to soothe my skin.  Also, the medicine that I am on now may not work in the future.  My forever family needs to understand that I will also need frequent veterinarian visits.  That’s a lot to ask for in a family, but I will tell you now that I am worth it.  I promise to love you in return and sit on your lap as long as you want me to.

If you think that I could fit into your life, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net.  She will tell you all about me.  Also, please look at my Petfinder page for even more information.  My foster mom says that it will be hard to let me go, but she knows the best thing for me is my own forever family.
