Arthur
Hello! My name is Arthur and I’d like to tell you a bit about myself. First of all, I’d like to say that I REALLY, REALLY want to find my forever home. I was found as a stray right before Hurricane Ike passed through Texas. I was very lucky to wind up at Lone Star as I was not very healthy. I had kennel cough and also was heartworm positive. My heartworm treatment is finally finished and was successful. Now I am healthy, happy, and ready for my new family to find me.
I am a 2 year old black and white Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu mix. I weigh about 14 pounds or so. My foster mom tells me that I am a sweet boy. I’m a bit shy when I first meet you, especially if you are a man. But, WOW do I ever love the ladies! Actually, once I get to know you, even if you are a man, I will love, love, love you. I know that I could be your forever friend.
My ideal forever home would be a quiet one with no young children. I get along well with other dogs and I would also love to have another dog in my forever home. Please think about me as part of your family. I promise that I will be your forever friend.
You can read more about me on my Petfinder page. Or, better yet, please email my foster mom at robbie@shihtzu-rescue.com. She will tell you what a special little guy I am. I deserve to find my very own special family. Please let that be you.

Hello! My name is Chula and I am a 3 year old Lhasa Apso girl. Chula is Spanish for pretty and you can see by my picture that I am definitely that! Actually everyone says that I am cute, cute, cute!!!
I have been with my foster family for only about two weeks. When I first got there I just didn’t know how to act. I was bouncing all over the place with great exuberance and I think my foster brothers and sisters were a little scared of me. But, my foster mom started teaching me manners and I am so much better and calmer now. I just needed to learn how to be a dog! I am very smart and I catch on to things quite quickly.
I LOVE to be around people. My foster parents take me to Starbucks and another local restaurant all the time and I am SOOOOO good when I am there! I really enjoy watching all the people. I sit patiently waiting and watching and hoping that someone will drop something for me! I also love to go in the car for rides and I get very excited when I hear my leash jingle. That means that I am either going for a walk or on a new adventure.

Speaking of adventures…………..take a look at my picture in PetsMart. My foster mom took me there and it was amazing! I love squeaky toys and will play with them until they squeak no more. When Mom took me to PetsMart and I saw ALL THE BINS WITH TOYS, I just couldn’t believe it. Mom laughed at me and just had to take my picture because I was in seventh heaven. I kept taking toys out of bins and a PetsMart employee followed me and put them back in the bins. It was a great game that we were playing.
You can see that I am a fun-loving little girl who would love to find her forever home. Please email my foster mom at mina184@yahoo.com. She’ll tell you all about me. Also, please look at my Petfinder page for even more information.

Hello out there! I just want you to know that even though I have been at Lone Star a while I am up for adoption and definitely ready for my “furever” home.
I am a 7 year old Lhasa Apso lad. I do have a bit of “Lhasatude” but what Lhasa Apso doesn’t??!! I just need to know that you are the boss and I will then love, love, love, you. And, I will be very loyal to you. I am really a very sweet and loving boy. I do love to be close to my foster mom and I especially like it when she scratches my ears, chin and back. That is definitely the good life!! I also will curl up next to my foster mom on the bed and give her kisses. If she doesn’t start petting me or has stopped, I will “paw” her hand for more.
I have the Good Citizenship award, so I definitely know how to behave, but sometimes when my stubbornness kicks in so does the Lhasatude. Because of that I need to go to a home without younger children. Anyone over the age of 16 would be great though! My perfect home would be one where my family understands my breed and also where I can be the only child – oops I mean dog!!
I really am a good boy and would love to find my forever home. If you know, understand, and love the Lhasa Apso breed I’m your man!! You can contact my foster family at adoptioninquiries@yahoogroups.com if you have any questions. Also, please check out my Petfinder page. I promise to love you.

Hello! My name is Tarik and I am a 5 month old Shih Tzu baby. My foster Mom said that I am the “runt of the litter”. I think that must mean something special because she gave me special attention when I first came into foster care. My foster Mom had to supplement feed me for a few weeks as my brothers and sisters wouldn’t let me eat often enough. I was very tiny, but I showed them! With all that special care and my own special food I have gotten bigger and stronger! I’m still a bit smaller than my brothers, but I am about the same size as my sisters.
I am one sweet and loving guy. I love to sit in my foster Mom’s lap and give her lots of big sloppy kisses. I also love to play with my foster brothers and sisters, but I am particularly fond of my brother Darius. We have a great time together. Mom says that when I find my forever home I will need a young doggie playmate. Maybe you might consider adopting one of my brothers or sisters along with me!
My foster mom is trying to teach me a trick. She calls it a “High Five”. I think she thinks I can learn this because when I play I bat my paws in a very cute way and it reminds her of a high five.
My coloring is quite unique if I say so myself. I have black and red hair which gives my coat a mahogany coloring. It is quite striking. I also have a small white blaze on my chin and chest.
I am doing well with house training, but remember, I am still a puppy. I am also crate trained and will sleep in my little crate at night.
If you would like any more information about me, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net. Also, check out my really cute pictures and write-up on my Petfinder page!

Howdy! My name is Darius and I am a 5 month old, black and tan Shih Tzu boy. I am one of a litter of six and one of my siblings has already been adopted, so now there are six of us. My mom says that my coat is “unique” and that I am quite the dashing youngster. I weigh about 6 pounds now and am very healthy and happy.
I am also a sweet and loving little boy. When I see my foster mom in the morning I am the first of the bunch to run and greet her and tell her hello! When she is sitting in her chair or on the couch, I always come and put my front paws up so that she can pick me up. I really enjoy her lap!!
I am also quite playful and enjoy the company of my brothers and sisters and also my older foster siblings. If there is a grumpy dog that I encounter, I am definitely smart enough to leave him or her alone. I love my soft little plush toys and enjoy a tug-of-war with one of my siblings now and then. I also love my back yard. Basically, I (and my 4 siblings) are just plain happy! But, we will be happier when we find our forever homes.
I am also crate trained and I sleep in my little crate at night. I have not had an accident in my crate and I will tell my foster family when I need to go outside. I’m still learning all the housebreaking rules, and I am a quick learner for a 5 month old!!
If you think your family is ready for an adorable little Shih Tzu boy, please email my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net. You can also check out my Petfinder page for even more information. My foster mom would like me to have a playmate in my forever home, so if you don’t have another young, playful dog in the family, maybe you would like to adopt one of my brothers or sisters along with me. I am particularly fond of Aziza, and we look just the same!!!

My name is Rhett and I am one of the “Gone with the Wind” dogs rescued from North Carolina last summer. I am about 7 years old and weigh 10 pounds. I am most likely a Shih Tzu/Chihuahua mix. My foster mom says that makes me a Chi Tzu!!! I think that’s pretty clever!!!
I came to Lone Star with no hair, mange, very bad skin and worms. As you can see by my picture, I have lots of black and white hair now! My skin is in great shape and I feel and look great. Good nutrition, supplements and the love of my foster family has made me into a very happy boy.
I am very friendly and loving with both people and other dogs. When I first came to Lone Star, I was very shy. But, I have learned to love and trust my human friends and have become quite the social butterfly. In fact, my foster mom says that I am a little lover. She thinks that I would love to have a forever home where I could be King, or at least Prince, of the castle. I think she’s right!!
I am healthy and the only lasting problem from my past life is that I have a heart murmur. Currently, that’s not a problem for me at all. I can still love you and be your forever friend.
If you think I could fit into your life, please look at my Petfinder page. Also, email my foster mom at adoptioninquiries@yahoogroups.com for even more information on me.

Hello out there!! My name is Bonnie and I am one tiny little Shih Tzu lady! I am about 5-6 years old and I am one of the “Hairless North Carolina Shih Tzus” taken from a horrible living situation. I am now living the high life in my foster home and guess what? I found out that I love to wear little t-shirts and dresses! They keep me warm because I have very little hair, and my little clothes are oh-so stylish too!
I am tiny at about 7 pounds or so. I came to my foster home at 5 pounds and I put on weight fast – so fast that I had to go on a diet! Now isn’t that just the silliest thing? I am definitely getting lots of love, good food, and supplements and am now quite the healthy little gal.
Even without hair, my foster mom says that I am adorable. I am also very sweet and loving when I get to know you. I’m a bit shy at first, but when I find out that you have a lap to sit in, I warm up to you right away.
If you think I might fit into your home, please contact my foster mom at adoptioninquiries@yahoogroups.com. She will tell you all about me. Also, please look at my Petfinder page. I need to be loved and I need to be spoiled and every lady needs a wardrobe! Can you give me all those things?

My name is Monkey and I am one very sweet and social little Shih Tzu boy. I am about 3 years old, weigh 14 pounds, and I have a beautiful shiny black coat. I was names Monkey because of my black hair, my tiny little nose and my inquisitive little look. Not only am I a sweet boy, but I am a very, very lucky boy. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
The volunteers at Lone Star found me at one of the local animal shelters. I had a previous back injury that left me paralyzed in my back legs and the animal shelter folks knew that I would be hard to adopt. That’s when Lone Star stepped in and took me under their wing. They found the resources to fund surgery for me and now I CAN WALK!!! Even the veterinarians who did the surgery were surprised at how well I have done. I walk with a little limp, but that’s OK by me. My life is so much better now!!!
I am very sweet, easy-going and friendly. I love people and I also love to play with all my foster brothers and sisters. “Play” would be my middle name. It’s amazing how much energy I have now that I can use my back legs! I also love to go on walks, and the walks help me get stronger and stronger.
I would love to find a forever home that would love me, play with me, and take me for long walks. Oh, and I forgot about the “pamper me” part. That would really be great! I’ve been through a lot and I think I really deserve a special family to call my own. Please let that be you.
If you would like to hear more about me, check out my Petfinder page. Also, please email my foster mom at adoptioninquiries@yahoogroups.com. I KNOW she will tell you what a special little guy I am.

Handsome, handsome, handsome, that’s what the name Hasani means in Egyptian and that’s me! I am one good-looking little Shih Tzu boy. My foster parents think that I am about 2 years old. I weigh 9 pounds, and have a beautiful caramel-brown coat. I also have a white stripe on my chest and a little tiny brown nose just like my coat. My coat is very soft and my foster mom says that she loves to cuddle with me because I feel so good. And she says that my baby face makes her want to just squeeze me to pieces!!
I am a special needs dog as I am blind in both eyes, but don’t let that stop you from checking me out! Even though I am blind I get along very well once I learn the lay of the land. And, if I bump into something, that’s just fine by me. It’s helping me to learn my surroundings. Actually I love to be close to my foster mom and dad and will search them out. I often bump into things when I’m looking for them. You see, whenever I find them I know that I will get hugs, kisses, and lots of cuddles. My very favorite thing to do is to be loved by my family. I don’t want to be a pest so I am also just happy to be at their feet or sitting next to them. My family gives me the confidence I need.
My foster mom and dad say that I am also quite the independent little guy. I like to explore the outside and smell the grass and the flowers. I also am learning how to walk on a leash with Mom and Dad close by to guide me. I listen for their encouraging words. I also am doing great with housebreaking.
I love my foster brother and sisters and I also learn from them! We play and romp together and I follow them around. I love my treats and make sure that I gently take them from Mom or Dad’s hand when they are offered. That’s one thing I didn’t learn from my siblings! They snatch and run with their treats. I am excited when I get one, but I know how to be a gentleman.
I do a special little dance that makes my foster parents laugh. And they say that I am adorable when I do it! I bounce back and forth from one front paw to the other and then I paw my back legs one at a time, just like a bull would do. It’s called “Hasani Aerobics” and it’s special to me!
I think my ideal forever home would have someone home most of the time to give me all the love and attention that I crave. A nice lap to cuddle-up in would be absolutely fabulous!!! Do you think that lap might be yours?
If you think I might be the right little guy for your family, please email my foster parents at tzuaustin@gmail.com. Also, I have my very own Petfinder page that you can look at to learn even more about me.

Hello! My name is Ashley and I am one sweet guy. I am a Southerner so I am also quite debonair even though I don’t look like it! Actually, my picture makes me look a bit pathetic, but you should have seen me just a few months ago!!! I am one of the Hairless North Carolina Shih Tzus rescued last summer from horrible living conditions. When I came to Lone Star I had worms, no hair, mange, and really bad skin. I hadn’t had a bath, proper nutrition, or even routine medical care in my first home. I am VERY lucky to be here! My brothers and sisters and I are now ready for adoption. You can tell who we are on our Petfinder pages by our movie names! We were named after the characters in “Gone with the Wind” because we are survivors!!!!
As you can see, my hair is starting to grow back. It seems to grow really fast around my neck so it looks like I am wearing a feather boa. That’s not very manly but it is HAIR!! My head is a little bald now, but hopefully that will grow soon. I know I will never have a beautiful long Shih Tzu coat, but I do have hair now and that’s what counts!!! I am about 6-7 years old and I weigh 10 pounds. I am a little shy, but once I get to know you I am very friendly and loving. My foster mom says that I am sweet-tempered. I get along well with by foster brothers and sisters too.
I would love to find my forever home. I need to know that I am special and that I am loved. Now that I know what the good life is – I want more! I am very lucky to be here, but I would be luckier to find my very own family to love. If you think I might fit into your home, please contact my foster mom at AdoptionInquiries@yahoogroups.com. She’ll tell you what a special guy I am. Also, please check out my very own Petfinder page.
