NASH – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:02 am by Volunteers

Nash 20091216 I

How cute am I!!  Just take a look at my picture and you will see one happy little guy.  My name is Nash and I love my little stuffed duck (although I thought ducks were supposed to be a color other than purple).  I am very healthy, happy, playful, and affectionate and that’s just about all the most perfect things to be!!!

I am a 6 year old Shih Tzu male who is looking for his forever home.  I am now in foster care and I have foster brothers and sisters to play with and wonderful human friends to take care of me.  It’s really nice here, but I won’t be here forever.  I know that there is a home for me out there where I can be special to my very own family.

I am very healthy, but I do have to have drops in my eyes daily.  I have what they call “dry eye” and the drops help my eyes stay healthy.  I am VERY good when the drops are put in and don’t complain at all.  I love to play and do very well with my foster siblings.  We run and play and romp together and you would never know that I am 6 years old.  I also like my quiet time and enjoy being cuddled, petted and hugged.

If you think you would like to make me a part of your family, please email my foster mom at adoptioninquiries@yahoogroups.com.  She will tell you how wonderful I am and what a great addition I would be to your family.  You can also check out my very own Petfinder page for even more information.  I promise to love you and to be the best boy ever!!!

I am altered, up to date on all shots, and heartworm negative.

MANDISA (MANDI) – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:57 am by Volunteers

Mandisa 20091220 001

Hello!!  My name is Mandi and I am a very happy little girl.  I no longer live in a breeder’s back yard and now am in a wonderful foster home.  I have my very own bed, toys, and a foster family to love me and play with me.  I have truly changed from a scared, anxious little girl to an easy-going, friendly and quite likeable dog!  I am learning what it means to be a dog and I like it!!!

I am about 5 years old and spent most of my life having puppies.  When I was rescued and taken to Lone Star I had just had a litter of pups.  Now my puppies are on their own and don’t need me.  So, I am now ready for my forever home.  I had some problems with my eyes and needed surgery to correct my eyelids so that they would close completely when I sleep.  My eyes turn out a bit, especially my left one.  I may look a little funny, but I can see very well and can close my eyes fully.  I need drops in my eyes every day, but I am a very good girl when my foster mom puts them in my eyes.  I also had bladder stones and needed to have surgery to remove them.  Luckily they were the kind of bladder stones that could just be removed and I am not on a special diet.  Now that my surgeries are over, I FEEL GREAT and life could not be better.

I am a sweet girl and I get along with my foster brothers and sisters great.  We play with each other and just have fun.  I LOVE being a dog!!!  When my foster parents come home I run to the door to greet them.  I also LOVE to follow my foster mom around the house.  Again, that’s something new for me since my former home was a backyard.  I mentioned that I have my very own dog bed BUT, I sure would love to have my very own special person to sleep with in their big bed!  That would be perfect!

Please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net if you want to learn more about me.  I am an unusual little girl, but I am happy, healthy and full of love.  I just need my very own special family.  Maybe that could be YOU!!  Also, please check out my Petfinder page.  There’s more information there about me and also some other pictures.  Please consider me as part of your family!

I am altered, up to date on all shots and heartworm negative.

GONZO

Gonzo

My name is Gonzo and what a great little guy I am!!  I am a 7-8 year old Lhasa Apso and I weigh 20 pounds or so.  I have a thick white coat with black tipped ears and am quite the handsome lad!!!  I have a very sweet and loving disposition and love to be loved by my special human friends.  My foster mom says that I am just a down right great guy and she says I’m very low maintenance – whatever that means!  I think it’s a good thing!!

One of my very most favorite things to do is to go on a walk!  I also like to go for car rides too!  When I see that my foster mom is getting my leash for us to go somewhere I get VERY excited.  I love to see people on my little adventures and will greet you with a friendly tail wag.   I also get along OK with other dogs.  Sometimes if a dog is too pesky towards me I might let them know they are too close, but that’s all.

I also love my quiet time and particularly enjoy getting pets from my foster mom as I sit on her lap.  That is very special for me.  I sleep all through the night and sometimes I wake my foster mom with my snoring.  I am also housebroken.

I only have one eye, but that doesn’t bother me a bit.  I still see everything I need to see and I run and play all the time.  I have a particular toy that I like and I carry my little lion that roars all over the house.  Sometimes I have to think if I should put my toy down to eat a treat or to eat my dinner!!  Usually food wins over and my little lion toy is always there waiting for me when I’m finished eating.

I know I could make you very happy.  I just want someone to love and someone to love me back and take care of me.  Check out my Petfinder page and also please email my foster mom at sunny@lsstlar.org  She’ll tell you all about me.

I am altered, up to date on all shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.

BENSON

Benson 10092209 009

Hello!!  My name is Benson and I am one unique little guy!  I am a 5 year old white Lhasa Apso and I have a little pink nose.  I am unusual in that I am an albino Lhasa.  There’s not too many of us around!!  I think I’m pretty special and very unique looking.  I am full of love and that’s what counts the most!!

I do have to tell you that I have cataracts from a congenital eye condition.  I have limited vision now and sometimes I wait for one of my foster brothers and sisters to walk ahead of me so I know what to expect.  My foster mom says that my vision problem does not affect me and that I am one happy little guy.  She would like to see my forever home be one that has another dog to help me along.

I am quite sweet and very loving and love to get attention from anyone who will pay attention to me.  I really love to be with my foster siblings, especially Nailah.  She is always willing to play with me.  I also love to be with my foster mom and I follow her all over the house.  I have a very special little toy that I carry  all around the house.  Sometimes my foster parents play tug-of-war with me and I really like that.  I am protective of my favorite toy, so my foster mom thinks that if my forever home has older children rather than younger that would be best for me.

I do have some allergies that are controlled with high quality food and supplements, so I will need to continue that in my forever home.

Please think about me as part of your family.  I know that I have special needs, but I’m definitely worth it!  If you want to talk to my foster mom about me, please contact her at sherry352@sbcglobal.net.  She knows me and loves me and will tell you all about me.  Also, please check out my very own Petfinder page for even more information.

DARDEN

Darden at Deogi

Hello!!  My name is Darden and I am proud to say that I am a Lone Star dog, up for adoption and ready for my forever home!  I am a sweet 1 ½ year old Lhasa Apso boy.  I have a beautiful short beige coat and a beautiful “pup”onality to match!  My foster mom says that I am a doll!

I was rescued by a Good Samaritan who discovered that I was living outside, instead of inside, my first home.  She also noticed that I had a limp.  When the Volunteers at Lone Star got me they had me checked out by a veterinarian who said that I have Legg Perthe Syndrome.  That’s a degenerative disease of the hip joint, but I want to tell you that it doesn’t slow me down one bit!   I got an artificial hip, but unfortunately it would not stay in the hip socket, so I still have it, but my hip is not quite right.  I don’t notice that I have any problems and play as long and as hard as all my foster brothers and sisters.  I will probably have to have surgery on my hip sometime in the future due to this problem.

Everyone thinks that I am one great little guy.  I love everyone and love to play with everyone.  I think I could be the perfect dog for your family if you are willing take on my special need.

Please contact my foster mom at adoptioninquiries@yahoogroups.com and also check out my very own Petfinder page.  I promise that I will love you forever if you give me my “fur”ever home!

I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots and am heartworm negative.

MARVIN – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:18 pm by Volunteers

Marvin

Hello from sunny Arizona!!!  My name is Marvin and I am a Lone Star dog living in Arizona in a GREAT foster home.  I am a Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso mix boy of about 3 years and I weigh 17 pounds.  I was rescued from one of the local shelters in Texas and was in pretty bad shape.  I had a problem with hair loss, particularly on one of my back legs.  But, with lots of good food, nutritional supplements and love I am healthy, have a great coat, and I am one happy boy.

My most favorite thing is to be with my people.  Wherever my foster mom is, I’m right there.  Or sometimes I prefer to be with my foster dad.  Mostly I like it when they are together because then I get to be with both of them!!!  I particularly like it when they are in the kitchen cooking.  I sprawl right in the middle of the floor to be where the action is, hoping that something might drop my way!!!

I love my foster brothers and sisters and I enjoy playing with them and with my toys.  I am house-trained and even know how to use a doggy door.  What more could you ask for???  Mostly, I am smart, affectionate, funny, and sweet.  I will even talk to you while you are petting me.  My foster mom says that I make a happy little grumbling sound every time she gives me some loving.  I have also been dubbed “Mr. Personality”.  You can tell by my picture that I am a charmer and will steal your heart forever.

The best thing that could happen to me would be that I find my forever home.  I promise to love you and be your best friend forever.  Please email my foster mom at azdoglover713@yahoo.com for more information about me.  Also, check out my Petfinder page.

I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots, and am heartworm negative.

LOBO – I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Lobo Planter 10 23 09

Hello!!!  My name is Lobo and, as you can see from by picture, I am a very handsome little 4 year old Shih Tzu boy.  I weigh about 16 pounds or so.  I am one sweet guy AND I am also one very lucky guy.  My life before living in my “way cool Arizona foster home” with my “way cool foster Mom and Dad” was not so great.  I spent the first 4 years of my life living in a puppy mill before I was rescued by the wonderful volunteers at Lone Star.  I was a little shy and fearful when I first came into foster care, but I have blossomed into a social, loving and very sweet boy.

My foster Mom says that I am even cuter than my picture and that I look like and even act like a little angel. She tells me that I am very easy to have around the house.  Actually, I am so grateful to have been rescued that I have a little smile on my face pretty much all the time.  I love getting pets from any one and will rub against your leg when I want attention.  I also love playing with my foster brothers and sisters and would love to be in a forever home that has a playful dog that could be my friend.  I am house trained too.

If you think that I might be the perfect dog for your family, please take a look at my Petfinder page.  Also, my foster Mom Lisa would be happy to tell you all about me.  You can email her at azdoglover713@yahoo.com.  I now know what it’s like to live in a REAL home with a REAL family.  I REALLY would like my own special forever home and family.  Please think about me!!  I promise to make you happy!!

XANDIE

Xandie

My name is Xandie and I am one cute little girl!  I am a 12 pound, 4 year old black and white Shih Tzu who has been through a lot in my short life.  When I first got to Lone Star I was very fearful of everyone and everything.  You see, I was abused in my first home and it has taken me a long time to learn to trust again.  I am getting better and better each day and I so appreciate my foster family for helping me through this difficult time.  I have now gotten to the point where I will let my foster mom pick me up for pets and loving.  I learned that it’s a pretty nice thing to be in her lap getting lots of love!!  Because of my history, it would be best if my forever home had children 16 years of age or older.  Also, my new family will need to understand that it might take a bit for me to get comfortable with them.  I promise though, it would be worth it!  I deserve my very own forever home!

I would love to have another playful dog in the house to keep me company.  I try to get my foster brother to play with me, but he wants nothing to do with me.  I can’t understand that!!!  My foster mom takes me on walks and I love that.  And, I love to be with you when ever you take a car ride.  That’s VERY much fun for me.  I just want to be with you and be loved by you.  I especially want to be close when there is a thunderstorm!!!

I am housetrained and know how to use the doggie door.  You see, I’m just about the perfect little dog for your family.  I would love to meet you and spend the rest of my life with you.  Please contact my foster mom at luvmyflick@gmail.com .  She will be happy to tell you all about me.  Also, I have my very own Petfinder page that you can look at.  Think about me when you are looking to adopt.  I won’t disappoint you!!!

PADDY PAWS

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:02 pm by Volunteers

Paddy Paws

What a sweet little older lady I am!!  My name is Paddy Paws and I will be 10 years young on December 1, 2009.  I am a Shih Tzu and I would love to find my forever home to live out my senior years.  My first family had to give me up because they were moving and could not take me with them.  I am very grateful that the wonderful volunteers at Lone Star have taken me in.  Now, I need to convince YOU that I would make the perfect addition to your family.

I am very sweet and cuddly and I love, love, love to be held just like a baby.  That means that you can give me lots of belly rubs and I do love my belly rubbed!!  I will stay for them as long as you are willing to pet me.  I get along well with my foster brothers and sister and I especially love playing with one of them.  I also enjoy the company of children as long as they respect my senior status.  My favorite toys are soft and squeaky.  I am also housebroken and I even know how to use a doggie door!  My favorite spot to sleep would be in bed with you, but I also am content in my little bed at the side of your bed.

My foster mom calls me a chow hound.  She learned pretty quickly that she needs to watch me at dinner time.  I will chow down my bowl of food in no time flat, then, of course, I need to check out which one of my foster siblings has left anything in their bowl!  I’m right there to gobble it up!!!

If you think I might be the perfect senior lady for you, please contact my foster mom at luvmyflick@gmail.com.  She would be more than happy to tell you all about me.  You can also check out my very own Petfinder page for even more information.  It would make me so happy to find my forever home!!!

MAGNOLIA-I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:04 pm by Volunteers

WOW!!!  How did a Tibetan Terrier/Havanese mix end up in a Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso Rescue?  I’ll tell you how and am I ever glad that I am here!!  My name is Magnolia.  One of our volunteers was taking a leisurely walk when she saw me.  I’m so glad she did, because I led her to where my FOUR PUPPIES were.  She just knew when she saw me that I was a Momma dog and instead of picking just me up, she followed me so that she could help us all.  I knew when I saw her that she was special.  She took us to another volunteer with Lone Star to help raise us, and now we all have a new chance on life.  We are looking for our forever homes.

Let me tell you a little about myself.  I am about 2 years old and I am a very good girl.  My foster mom said that I was a good mother to my four pups.  There names are Apex, Fluke, Pockie, and Dot.  There will be stories in this column about them soon.  We all have Petfinder pages, so if you are interested in any of us, please check us out.

The volunteers at Lone Star aren’t exactly sure what kind of a dog I am, but their best guess is that I am a Tibetan Terrier/Havanese mix.  I have a black and gray coat and I think I am a very pretty girl.  I am also very sweet and loving to both humans and other dogs.  I know that I would make you very happy.

Please consider adopting me so that I can have my very own forever home.  You can contact my foster mom at adoptioninquiries@yahoogroups.com and you can also look at my Petfinder page.  I promise that I won’t disappoint you.
