CLAUDE

Are you looking for a mature gentleman?  One who is well-mannered, gentle and loving?  I may be the one for you!!!  My name is Claude and I am a 10 year old Lhasa Apso who weighs about 18 pounds.  I know I am older than some of my foster brothers and sisters, but I feel that I deserve to live the rest of my life in my very own forever home.  Let me tell you a bit about myself, so you know how special I am.

Although I see okay, I do need to have my foster mom put eye drops in my eyes daily for dry eye.  I also have part of one of my ears missing.  My foster mom thinks that I may have been in either an accident or was attacked as I have some other scarring besides my missing ear.  I am definitely not a fighter so mom thinks that I may have been around the wrong dog at the wrong time.  I am actually very loving and gentle.  I sometimes like to romp and play with my foster brothers and sisters but I like to pick the time to play.  My specific duty at the house is to greet all the new dogs and make them feel welcome.

I also don’t have any front teeth, so when it comes to eating I get to eat from a regular dinner plate rather than a dog bowl.  That makes me feel very special.  I know when my foster mom is in the kitchen preparing all of our meals and I am ready and waiting at the gate to come in.  I am very patient and wait my turn for dinner.  Once I have finished my meal, I patiently wait for someone to let me back into the living area to be with all my doggie friends.  I never bark and make a ruckus to go back.  Mom says that I am a very good boy.

I am definitely a lap dog or maybe I could be called a “foot dog” as I will sit by your feet for as long as you let me.  I am very devoted to my foster mom and the family and I love to be wherever they are.

I am doing very well with my house training.  I wear a belly-band as I used to have accidents in the house.  Whenever my foster family takes me outside I do my business and come right back in.  If I am let out often enough, I have no accidents.

Please consider me as the older man in your life.  I promise I will be a faithful and loving companion.  Email my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net for more information.  And, please check out my Petfinder page.

I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots and am heartworm negative.

GARRETT

Garrett 1.JPG

Here I am, the Featured Fluff of the Week, AGAIN.  I was featured a while back, BUT FOR SOME REASON I AM STILL HERE!!!!  I thought for SURE I would have been adopted by now!!!  My foster mom says that I am a great guy who deserves a loving home, so PLEASE consider bringing me into your family.

This is my write-up on Petfinder which was written just a couple of weeks ago.  Check out the site for even more pictures of me.

My name is Garret and I am a 9-10 year old Lhasa Apso/Poodle mix.  I am one very lucky little guy since the wonderful folks at Lone Star found me.  I had a rough beginning, but you should see me now!!!  I was found as a stray and taken to the local animal shelter.  I was quite the mess when the volunteers at Lone Star rescued me.  I had very long hair that was dirty and matted and I desperately needed a bath.  Once I got a bath, a haircut, medical care, and lots of love from my foster family, I came out of my shell.  I am now a happy, handsome and healthy boy and I am ready to find my forever home.  I know that I am a little older, but that shouldn’t matter as I am a spunky, fun-loving dog who is ready for his forever home.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my foster family and my foster siblings very much, but I think I deserve to have a real forever family to call my own.

I have REALLY long legs and my foster mom calls me My Little Pony because of it.  She laughs at me because when I run I’m kind of clumsy and I tend to trip over myself a bit.  I get SOOOO excited when I run and play.  I particularly like to play fetch.  So it’s important that in my new home there is someone who will play with me and hopefully take walks with me.  Going on walks is one of my favorite things to do and I do quite well on a leash.  My long legs can go a great distance!!  My ideal home would be one with older children to play with me and maybe another doggie playmate.

My foster mom also calls me My Little Pony because when we are on the couch I love to nuzzle her neck just like horses do.  I am really a lovebug at heart and love to cuddle and get pets.   I am a little shy at first, but once I get to know you I will be your best friend.  I’m also learning that being a lap dog is great!!  I am housebroken, I love to be around other dogs, and just love to get attention from my foster mom and the family.

If you think that I would fit into your family, please contact my foster mom at arizonatzu@yahoo.com.  She will tell you all about me.  I promise that I will love you and be your forever friend if you give me a chance.

JUNE BUG

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:40 pm by Administrator

June Bug after.JPG

Hello!!  My name is June Bug and I am one lucky little lady.  I am a beige and white Shih Tzu mix and am about 1 year old.  I was found as a stray in June of 2007 (that’s one of the reasons my name is June Bug) and I had no hair when I came into foster care.  I have a serious skin condition and when I was found I was at my worst.  Luckily, the WONDERFUL Lone Star volunteers have been helping me and you can see by my picture that I now have HAIR and……………………I’m as cute as a bug!!!  That’s the second reason my name is June Bug!!!

Here’s what I looked like when I came to Lone Star.  Don’t I look GREAT now!!! June Bug before.jpg

My hair is a bit sparse and fuzzy now, but it is growing out and soon, I hope, I will have long hair!!  It turns out that I have a skin condition due to allergies that is very severe and it is causing me to lose my hair and break out in a rash.  My foster mom and the other volunteers have tried lots of things to help me and they have finally found something that has lessened my outbreaks.  The problem is that the medication is expensive.  With regular soothing baths and the medication, my life is fairly normal and I am a VERY happy-go-lucky little lady.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I am a very sweet girl who has lots of years of love to give.  My favorite thing would be to find a forever family with a lot of laps for me to lounge in.  I love to cuddle and get pets while I am curled up in my foster mom’s lap!  I don’t take up much room as I only weigh 7 pounds.  I also am very good with other dogs and I love to play with my foster brothers and sisters.  BUT, if one of them gets my favorite squeaky ball – watch out!  I will get it back and squeak that ball and carry it all day long!!!  It is definitely my favorite toy and it’s right next to me in my picture.

I don’t bark very much, but when I do you know it is me because my bark is quite high pitched.  My foster mom says that when I bark her toes curl.  I don’t really know what that means, but she never gets mad at me, so I guess my bark is just fine!!  Matter of fact, she thinks it is so funny that she eggs me on sometimes so I can sing for her friends! I am also learning house-breaking and my foster mom says that I am just about there.

I am truly a special little fluff who needs a forever family who will love me, take care of me, and understand my special needs.  I will need someone who is willing to take care of me medically for the rest of my life. The medicine that I am on needs to be given daily and I will need frequent baths to soothe my skin.  Also, the medicine that I am on now may not work in the future.  My forever family needs to understand that I will also need frequent veterinarian visits.  That’s a lot to ask for in a family, but I will tell you now that I am worth it.  I promise to love you in return and sit on your lap as long as you want me to.

If you think that I could fit into your life, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net.  She will tell you all about me.  Also, please look at my Petfinder page for even more information.  My foster mom says that it will be hard to let me go, but she knows the best thing for me is my own forever family.

ALLESANDRO

Allesandro.jpg

Ciao!  (That’s hello in Italian, just in case you didn’t know).  My name is Allesandro and I am a 3 year old, 16 pound, Lhasa Apso with a very Italian name!!!   I am a shy and quiet young lad, but once I get to know you I am very friendly, sweet, and happy!!!

I enjoy my foster brothers and sisters and I get along with them well.  I play a little with them outside, but if it’s nice out you can find me basking in the sunlight on the grass or the patio.  My most favorite thing to do is follow my foster mom around the house, yard, wherever.  She talks to me all the time and I love it when she pays attention to me.  I especially like it when she takes me on a walk with her.  I also LOVE to eat and I would eat everything in sight if my foster mom let me.  She gives me apple and carrot slices as treats so I can keep my handsome physique.

I have seizures sometimes, but I take medicine every day to control them so I do not have them very often.  I am also working on house-training and rarely have an accident.  I am getting better and better each day and I’m quite proud of my progress.

I would love to find a forever family of my own with someone to take care of me and love me.  I enjoy living with my foster family, but I know there is a special someone waiting for me.  Please contact my foster mom at myheartisdixie@yahoo.com .  She can tell you lots more about me.  Also, please take a look at my Petfinder page for even more information and pictures.

I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots and am heartworm negative.

Arrivederci and I hope to hear from you soon!

SILAS

Silas1.jpg

My name is Silas and I am a very cute black and white Shih Tzu mix boy.  I am about 2 years old and still quite the clumsy puppy!  I love to entertain my foster family with my clumsiness and I hear them say that watching me is great entertainment!  Take a look at the video of me running on my Petfinder site and you’ll see me in all my clumsy-action.  My front paws seem to want to go in a different direction than I do!!

Despite my humorous side, I am a sweet boy who loves to be loved by my foster family.  I’m a bit shy at first, but once I get to know you watch out!!  I love to play with my foster brothers and sisters and I would need to have a home with another young, playful doggy-friend to keep me company.  Give me a toy and watch me destroy it – that’s my motto!!  One thing though, if a loud sound happens near me I startle a bit.  But once the initial fear is over, I am just fine and raring to go, go, go.

I am working on my potty manners and am doing quite well if I say so myself.  My foster mom says that I am an all around great guy who would be a wonderful addition to a family.  Please consider giving me a forever home.

You can contact my foster mom at j4lsstlar@yahoo.com .  She’ll give you all the scoop on me!!  Also, please check out my Petfinder page for even more information and some more pictures.

HIRAM

Hiram.jpg

My name is Hiram and I am considered to be a true “Southern Gentleman” by my foster mom and the other Volunteers at Lone Star.  I am a 4 year old blond and white Lhasa Apso boy who is genteel, quiet, and very polite (that’s the Southern Gentleman part).  I would love to sit by your side, or in your lap, and give you kisses just like Rhett Butler gave to Scarlett O’Hara.   I like other dogs and play well with them, but if I could be your “one and only” that would suit me just fine.

When it’s feeding time I get very excited and that’s probably the only time you will see me not laid back, genteel, and polite.  I have to say, I LOVE FOOD!!!   I also love to go on walks and am very good on a leash.  And, by the way, I have exceptional potty manners.  All in all, I am a real sweetie and consider myself to be quite the catch for my forever family.

I did have heartworm when I first came into foster care.  I have finished my treatment and am happy to say that I am heartworm free and am now very healthy!  I am definitely ready for someone to love and to love me in return.

If you think I could fit into your family please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net. She would be happy to tell you more about me.  Also, please take a look at my Petfinder page.  There are more pictures of me there and you can see what a handsome lad I am.

I am altered, up to date on all shots, heartworm negative (YAY!!!) and microchipped.

BLITZEN

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:54 pm by Administrator

  Blitzen B 20080314.jpg

My name is Blitzen and I am a 12 pound, tall and lanky, Lhasa Apso boy with brown and white hair.  My hair should be long, but my puppy cut that you see in my picture is a lot easier for my foster mom to take care of.  My hair is very soft and silky and personally I think I would look quite handsome if it were longer, but I understand it’s a lot harder to take care of – especially since I am such an active boy.

I know my Petfinder write-up says that I am 2 years old, but I still act like a young pup because all I want to do is play, play, play.  I will play with other dogs, people, more dogs, and more people.  I just don’t seem to tire of playing.  My problem is that some of my foster brothers and sisters are older than I am and they don’t appreciate playtime quite as much as I do.  Don’t get me wrong, they like to play, but just not as long as I do.  I think another young active dog in my forever home would be just perfect.  No small children please as I might be too active for them!!!

I also love attention from anyone who is willing to give it to me.  I particularly like to sit in my foster mom’s (or anyone else’s) lap.  However, after a few minutes of that, I’m ready to play again!!  I will also give slurpy big kisses and I will even “sit” on command as long as there’s a treat involved!  I’m quite good when my foster mom takes me for a ride in the car.  I’m not completely housebroken yet, but I am working on it and getting better and better each day!

If you want a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky, little guy in your life, please contact my foster mom at sherry352@sbcglobal.net.  She will be happy to tell you all about me.  Also, please check out my Petfinder page for even more information.

I am altered, up-to-date on my shots, and am heartworm negative.

BILL BAILEY

Bill Bailey A 200803142.jpg

My name is Bill Bailey and I am an 18 pound, 5-6 year old Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso mix.  As you can see by my picture, I have a beautiful white coat.  I’ve been with the folks at Lone Star for a little while now and I am definitely ready to find my forever home.

I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to be with people.  I always want to be wherever my foster mom is and I am happiest sitting in her lap.  I particularly like her feet and may even have a bit of a foot fetish!  I will chase my foster mom if she happens to be barefooted.  I like to gently nip at her toes once I get to them.  Mom says it doesn’t hurt at all and it kind of tickles!!  Then she laughs and lets me play with her toes.  I hope that my forever mom and dad won’t mind me playing with their toes too!!

I get along with some dogs but I REALLY would like to be the ONLY dog so I can get all of your attention.  I would prefer not to have young children around (16 years and older only please) as young children might not understand how I like to play with bare feet!!  I definitely need a forever mom and/or dad who understands that I have a little bit of a Lhasa Apso attitude, so they really need to be the boss.

I have dry eye and do require eye drops daily for this condition.  I also have mild glaucoma in one eye that requires medicine.  I have had some allergy issues in the past, but with high quality food and supplements, these problems have gone away.

Please check out my Petfinder page for more information about me.  I’d also love it if you would email my foster mom at teresa@shihtzu-rescue.com .  She and the rest of the family would be happy to tell you what a wonderful little guy I am and how much I deserve to find my forever home.

I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots, am heartworm negative and microchipped.

PINOCCHIO

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:05 pm by Administrator

Pinocchio[1].jpg

My name is Pinocchio and I am a Lhasa Apso/Dandie Dinmont Terrier Mix.  I was the featured Fluff of the Week back in June, 2007 and I was mentioned again in a special FOTW column January 1, 2008.  The problem is, I’m still in my foster home and I am just not sure why!!  I am a very good boy and I REALLY would like to find my forever home.  Let me tell you a bit about myself again.

I am about 4 years old and I weigh about 18 pounds.  I think my foster mom named me Pinocchio because I have quite the long nose.  Better to sniff things with if I do say so myself!!  I can sniff-out my foster siblings left-over chew bones in nothing flat!!   My tongue hangs out a bit as I have an overbite.  My foster mom says that my cute little tongue AND my long eyelashes, make me quite the handsome lad.  She also says that I am very sweet and that’s definitely a plus!!

I am very playful and I love any attention that comes my way.  I’m a little bit territorial, but I manage to keep myself in line quite nicely.  I need to be in a home where I am not the top dog.  Leadership can go to my head and that can sometimes be a problem!!

I have a beautiful coat which my foster mom keeps short because it is easy for her to take care of.  I have what’s called a Dandie Dinmont haircut and my foster mom says it suits me to a T.  I have a lot of characteristics of a Dandie Dinmont, but I also have what’s called “Lhasitude”.  I definitely have the Lhasa Apso sense of humor mixed with the Dandie Dinmont sense of duty.  I want to make sure that my family is always protected – especially from CATS!!!  It would probably be best if my forever home did not have any of “those” around.

I will follow my foster mom wherever she goes and I love to curl up next to her when she is relaxing.  I just want to be around my people.  I would love a forever home where there would just be someone to love.  Older children would be great too and other dogs as I do get along well with my foster brothers and sisters.  My foster mom says that I am very good and that I would not disappoint my new forever family.  I am housetrained and I also really enjoy riding in the car.

If you would like more information about me, please contact my foster mom at rymm2006@gmail.com.  You can also look at my Petfinder page.  Please consider me to be part of your family.  I would love to make you happy.

I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped.

HUTCH

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:50 pm by Administrator

New Hutch.jpg

Hello out there!  My name is Hutch and I am a gray and white Shih Tzu boy.  I am young, maybe about 1-2 years old.   The volunteers at Lone Star found me at the local animal shelter and took me home with them.  I looked quite the mess because I had been living outside.  I had been dropped off at the shelter because my first family was moving and they could not take me with them.  I am REALLY glad that the volunteers at Lone Star found me because my life as a foster dog is ever-so-good and ever-so-much better than my previous life!!!  It’s definitely much better to live inside rather than outside, that’s for sure!!!

Because I was living outside I was not housebroken when I came into foster care.  I have to learn new potty manners now that I am an insider.  My foster mom says that I am getting better and better each day.  But I do appreciate it when she tells me it’s time to go outside!

I would love to be an only dog in my forever home so that I could get all the attention I deserve.  I like my foster siblings OK, but I just prefer to get ALL the attention and not share it with them.  If there happened to be another dog in my forever home, he or she would need to know that I’m in charge!!!  Also, no small children please as they move a little quickly for me and scare me a bit.

I love to play and have found that toys are GREAT!!  I would play with my squeaky toys all day if I could.  I particularly like my toy hamburger and will carry it with me all over the house and yard.  If one of my foster siblings somehow gets it away from me, I WILL get it back!  I also love to take walks with my foster mom and I’m learning how to play fetch.  But the very best thing is that I live inside the house with my foster family.  I like to go outside and play and watch the squirrels, but I LOVE living inside and even sleeping right next to my foster mom at night.  What a life!

Please consider me if you are looking for a new family member as I need a forever family to love.  If you would like more information about me, please look at my Petfinder page.  You could also contact my foster mom at mh@cableone.net.  She would be happy to tell you what a fine fellow I am.

I am altered, up-to-date on all my shots and am heartworm negative.
