Echo is now on the "lend/lease program". In our time of need, Nita stepped up to the plate and is now Echo's designated foster mom in our absence. We have an agreement that Echo will come back to us if and when our situation stabilizes. As for now, Nita is taking excellent care of Echo. Nita and I talk on a regular basis. Nita gives us detailed updates on Echo, and we share information. Nita tells us that Echo seems to have springs in her bottom -- the way she jumps, runs backwards, climbs and continues to be an active, happy and well cared for little gal. Because our personal situation took a drastic change that meant we could not take Echo with us, we were very concerned about Echo receiving the special care that she needs. We talked to Nita several times over the phone before handing Echo over to Nita. It didn't take too much convincing (sight unseen) to know that Nita was the right person for Echo. With each report from Nita, we are more than convinced that a higher power had a big hand in how this all turned out. Echo is being spoiled royally by Nita and her husband. Nita cannot believe this little gal has so much spunk in her. Consequently, Echo has got Nita wrapped around her little paw. Nita's life has now truly gone to the dogs. Echo has shown Nita what a true joy she is and how she loves life and lives it to the fullest. Echo is very happy with Nita and her husband, and we are happy for Echo.

I saw Echo on your website this afternoon and was wondering whether she has been adopted? Inside, we have a rescue Shelty from Sheltie Haven and two rescue Peke-mixes from Mansfield Animal Control. Couch potatoes, every one of them. One of the Pekes (Sugar-bear) is 12 but we adopted her last month and she is great fun. Very loving. Very cuddly. She has cataracts and is hard of hearing - but then so am I. We also have two Beagle-mixes from Mansfield Animal Control who run all over our fenced-in yard and LOVE to go to Fort Woof doggie park in Fort Worth. I would very much like to be considered as a forever home for Echo. I am 60 with a husband and no small children. I think she would be a wonderful addition to our family. We have lots of love, Iam’s dog food, treats and toys to share. We are also interested in Belva - either of these lovely furballs would be a blessing to us and we promise we will give them a happy home. There's a lot of love around our place. Not to mention an adult daughter who is at home all day and LOVES to cuddle with the dogs.

Echo has not needed to be treated by a vet for 7 months now. She is doing so well and is so vibrant and full of life, we decided to put her on the Petfinder and try to find a home for her. It will take a special person to come forward and be willing to adopt and care for her, but we know there are adopters out there like this. The rescue has had adopters come forward to adopt older, blind, handicapped and "special needs" dogs before, so we believe there is a chance for Echo. This special person that would adopt Echo would be rewarded with a sweet, playful, loving little girl.

Echo is still bouncing around, playfully, like a rubber ball. Cat, I hope you got my e-mail to you. I really would love for you to meet little Echo, and allow me the chance to thank you in person for your generosity. Your kind, loving spirit is what keeps this rescue and the volunteers going.

Echo has checked her Day Planner and her 3-year calendar. She says she has no plans to go anywhere in the immediate future. If the right person were to come forward and want to give this little gal a good home, I honestly believe she would give that person a long-time reward of her bouncy, sweet presence. She requires a lot of water on a continuous basis and the availability to relieve herself. She is not on a difficult diet, and she is on only one daily supplement -- no medications from a vet. This little girl is a real trooper. She wants to please, and she wants to be accepted. She loves being with the family members.

Echo continues to do great. It's hard to believe now that 9 months ago Texas A&M gave her such a poor prognosis and offered to put her down for free to study her internal organs. We've even cut back on some of her supplements. She is on a good diet for the liver, and we are very fortunate in the fact that she is such a hearty eater and will eat ANYTHING. She would also eat all day, if we would let her. She even got a little pot belly for a short time until we cut her back to smaller meals twice a day. She is still very petite, weighing only 7 lbs.

Is Echo a Dallas baby or do you live out of town? I travel alot for work, but would like to meet her when my schedule permits! I keep all my little sponsors in my prayers daily and feel so blessed to have been given my two boys Chachacha and Chugger, so if I can help any other babies just a little it's great!

Chugger's a face-licker, so sloppy kisses from Chugger to Echo!

Take care,

OMG!!!! Many, many thanks to Cat (and her boys) for signing up to be a sponsor for Echo. Echo sends you lots of sloppy, wet kisses of thanks.

Echo has now gone over 4 months since she required a vet visit for fluids. She says, "Nothing is stopping me now!" This little girl is awesome! It just goes to show you what good nutrition and a lot of TLC can do for one.

Thank you again, Cat, from the bottom of Echo's heart (and ours). It is soooo heart-warming to know that someone cares.

Oh, how sweet it is!!!! Echo has now gone 3 whole months without a vet visit for fluids......Still going. I think we will nickname her EverReady. It has been 6 months now since Texas A&M vets asked if we wanted to put her down. She starts her day out by smothering us with kisses. After going outside to potty, she knows the routine. Into the kitchen for meds, wait 1 hr. before eating, and then the best part of the whole day........FOOD. You can call her Echo, you can call her EverReady, you can call her anything at all, but don't call her late for feeding. She gets so anxious to eat. She jumps up on my leg while I prepare her food and then she starts to bark with anticipation. She has a spring in her step, a wiggle in her hips and a wag in her tail. She says she is here for the long haul. And she makes the absolute most of every day. What a girl. We could learn a lot from her.
